"Thomas Newton said from the beginning that conservatives don't tend to protest.
"They've got better things to do," he insisted, "companies to run, projects to complete."
Still, standing at Amelia Street and Revere Avenue late Saturday afternoon, he was pretty sure he'd be joined before long by others eager to blast the Dixie Chicks before the concert at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Two hours later, with most of the crowd already inside for the country group's sold-out show, Newton was still at the intersection, still in the cowboy outfit he'd worn specifically for the occasion, still brandishing his "I Am Ashamed The Dixie Chicks Are From Texas" sign.
And he was still alone."

Come on people....I hope more than one person will show up at some of these concerts. I will be in Indiana. I have a call into COnseco Fieldhouse and they called me back but I missed the call. WIll see what they have to say on Monday. I called to see if they were putting aside an area for protesting. I also contacted the cities legal department and they said protesting on the sidewalk is fine but I am also in the process of getting 'official approval ' for a protest - even if I am the only person.

Just out of curiosity, what, exactly, are you protesting?

CNN is all over this like stink on..
Of course they are also running the promo deriding Bush on the economy and asking if this is deja vu. It's brutally anti-Bush until they cut away to a recent Democrat Pres hopefuls debate and I laugh a bit before returning to my cornflakes. Nothing liker seeing Lizard, Hari Kerry, Mortimer, Hair, the newest X-Man and vanilla flavor without the vanilla, Deanie to restore my confidence in Bush's re-election bid.

They say there's no such thing as bad publicity.I am weary of the attention given to light weights like the Dixie Chicks.

Maybe the best tactic would be to embarass the fans, not the Chicks. Call them French or something. Make being a DumbChick fan out of fashion, 20 somethings can't stand to be out of fashion.

Not a good idea. They are stupid, not evil. Concentrate on the evil.

Why bother? We made our point. The Chicks are yesterday's news and the war is over. No need to drag it out and beat a dead horse. I just don't think the Chicks are worth our time. Their record sales and popularity will fade on its own. Besides, we have companies to run and projects to complete.

Maybe it's time to leave the chicks alone. They expressed an unpopular opinion, they've paid for it - bigtime.
They sing songs (quite well), they do not formulate government policy (thank God). The media story is no longer about the backlash against them by their fans, instead the new story is "crazy, rabid conservatives threatening to kill them for expressing their views". regrettably, the story is true.
We're bigger than this. Don't prolong this story. If you must protest - how about a very simple sign that reads...
Shut up and Sing!

I didn't care for the Dixie Chicks before the comment in London, and I don't care for them now ... so in effect, I have been boycotting them all along. Similarly, I have had a life-long boycott of Madonna material.

I guess you will have to wait and see what my signs say....
Feel Free to support Dixie Chicks. I have no problem with that.
To: InspiredPath1
I completely disagree. I will have a number of signs.
One of them will say that
I am Proud that GWB is CIC.
Along with two pictures of him
a picture of bill clinton
and some captions
And if I am the only one there...so be it.
To: willieroe
I can't cite what I've heard on the TV. I have heard idiots praise Bush for saving the lives of Iraqis then immediately say that the Chicks should be strapped to bombs and dropped on Saddam.
Find a serious argument.

I wouldn't waste my money like those Bush hating libs do with supporting the French Hens. Next year they will be selling the CDS at the Dollar store.
