Hi mstar. Am heading off to bed now myself but glad to hear from you. Glad you like the stocking idea too! I think it's awesome!

Will be in prayer for you and yours as I have been. Am glad Aimee is home though. It seems very right.

Also, hope Terry is able to enjoy Venezuela. Have been praying for that country now for a few years due to my friends living there. It is a lovely country and most of the people are wonderful. Before Chavez they were less of a 3rd world country than is mostly thought. And the people there loved Americans - ESPECIALLY Texans back then. My friends now feel that they really are living in a 3rd world country though. Prayers for Terry. and some of them are prayers that he will get to meet some of the wonderful people.

Not sure it answers your question directly but I've always had the idea that Gandalf either knew that balrog was in Moria or he perceived the great evil of the balrog without knowing exactly what it was.

Was looking at this post...my daughter, Sunday, the family expert on Middle Earth(I am prob. not giving the right info here)once said that Gandalf and the Balrog in Moria were once creations (like Angels) on the same level. So if Gandalf was one of the chief Istari, I would think that was what the Balrog once was before he fell into darkness. Kinda like the Angels, some stayed with God and a third fell with Lucifur. Where Sunday found the info I am not sure. I will try to ask when I see her this week. Anyway from what I understand they knew each other.

Thanks, maybe that will happpen. I am not sure where he is going to be working...he already has the ticket, but I am too tried to look for it. When I find out, I'll let you know and see if it is anywhere near your friends. Anyway, goodnight to all, early airport morning.

The Istari and Balrogs were all Maia so would have known one another but that doesn't necesarily explain that Gandalf would have known of the Balrog's location in Moria. I think he suspected because of his knowledge of the fall of Moria. And he may have discerned the Balrog but I don't think he really knew it was there - until he was at that place.

Oh, Rosie! I'm sorry to hear about Bill!! I'm so glad no one was hurt! And it's fortunate that someone was able to go get them! They are definitely in my prayers for a safe trip back home. It has dried out somewhat down here; up through Enfield and to the end of I-89 it was a VEY SOGGY drive!

Oh, before I go... another change made in the movie: In the book, Gandalf *wanted* to go through Moria, but Aragorn spoke against it. Aragorn had a premonition that something terrible would happen to Gandalf if they went into Moria, and so Aragorn suggested they try the pass first; only when that was blocked by the storm did he reluctantly agree to go through Moria, at Gandalf's urging.

Movie changes that quite a bit!

Doesn't Perdue feed his chickens marigolds or something to make the meat more vibrant looking? I wonder if that would work on eggs, too?

She may not want to hear it, but it's probably for the best. You need some proximity to cement a relationship. Military deployments are difficult enough when folks have been married a while. It it MUCH more difficult when they've only known each other a short time, but want things to get more serious. Absence doesn't always make the heart grow fonder.

Hamsters and guinea pigs are rodents and they both stink!!!
