The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Sounds like a big frustration.... Is there anything particularly big about any of the messages that still have to come in?

Ouch, that's no fun! I hope it gets better quick.
I'm off to get some breakfast.

Well, it sure is quiet 'round here!
I will go read I think.... I read a bit more last night, and may finish today!
19 was a very good chapter! Woo Hoo! But the title of 20 scared me so I had to read that one too, to find out it was just trickses.

Ruh-roh, now you're ahead of me! Hopefully it will be quiet enough at work tonight to get a couple more chapters read.
To: ecurbh
Now I only have one chapter left and it is an exciting one, I honestly don't know how it ends!
Then the epilogue...
Chaper 22 has a really neat sentence in it.

Well, time to get ready to head out. Hopefully it will be quiet enough to get some reading done (Sundays usually are.) Plus the supervisor will not be in today, so I may be able to play some backgammon later. Have a good afternoon!

~THUD~
I think the last chapter and the epilogue are the greatest and saddest tales I have ever read...
I am gonna go hug my horse.
Thanks for getting me this book.

Hello Hair!!
You know what I did???
When I first got my four chickens, I called the city hall and asked them if it was ok and how many I could ultimately have. The lady at city hall told me that city ordinance didn't say how many I could have, but they couldn't be a nuisance to my neighbors. She also said I would need to check my particular neighborhood convenant to see if chickens were allowed.
Well, I never did do that. And it's been nagging at me.
So I find a woman in my homeschool group that is giving away 2 pullets the same age as mine. I think to myself..."I better check on the covenants before I get any more."
So yesterday Steve took a copy of our platt (sp?) down to the Tulsa County Courthouse and they had a copy of our covenant that has been on file since 1955!! It has never been amended! It says:
No noxious or offensive activity shall be carried on upon any lot, nor shall anything be done thereon which may become an annoyance or nuisance to the neighborhood.
It also says:
No animals of any kind shall be raised, bred or kept on any lot, except that dogs, cats or other household pets may be kept, but not for any commercial purposes. Poultry may be kept for family use only.
So! Now I know! It doesn't really give a number, but I would need to be careful not to be a nuisance, which I wouldn't anyway, because I try to be a good neighbor.
Very interesting endeavor, anyway! Learn something new every day.

No. She wants to give them away with a rooster that has been raised with them (which I can totally understand, if you saw the way mine stick together...Jar Jar and Roy are very close and so are Benny Hen and Puffy).
It would be not really cruel, but perhaps unnessasarily unkind to separate them.
But I can't have a roo.

WN; good plan for Frodo seeing how GW "is in residence". How bout a pic of Frodo next to your "iron pony"? Heh! That's item 1 on the list!! BEFORE the ranch. Priorities in line. LOL

Hi Corin!
I'm glad your back. I tried to take care of things for you while you were gone. as you can see, backgammon and seabiscuit got way out of hand.

That is very good news about your chicken allowance 2J. I was thinking when you said it was 1955 I bet they let people have yard chickens then. Growing up in the 60's I still remember lots of older people in our small city having back yard chickens.
Ever thought about a milk goat? I always kind of thought it would be nice to have laying hens and a milk goat.
