The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'll stand with wneighbor (and everyone else that I'm sure will be joining) in prayer for thegirl this afternoon...
I don't think it's a problem leaving the bigchicks outside, enclosed in a pen...they must be getting pretty good size. Mine started flying out of the box at night, pirching on the side of the box...I had to put a burlap bag on the top of the box to keep them in at night, until we got the coop built!
I wish I had a couple more of the black sex-links...Roy is one great chicken. A real talker now, a constant stream of clucking!

No you ain't. I have seen your house!
I live in a trailer. But at least I have neighbors that are worse, and that comforts me.
And most reasonable folk with two horses, a varying number of dogs and a cat would find this place to be a pretty good deal even if they had to live in a tent. My rent is cheap. $500 for seven acres.

Nice snaig Rosie.
I dunno, maybe it was vacation. But the precious doesn't quite call to me like it used to.
More likely I need to get my eyes examined cause I'm not seein' 'em. Seriesly, we watched a movie last night and even with my glasses, I had a hard time staying focused on the TV. Then when I went back to the computer I never could get refocused for close-up. Maybe I was just tired. But I suspect there are bifocals in my not too distant future (of course, since I can't see the future either I could be wrong about that too)

My speed still isn't back to that yet, I think they are using the backup hamster-driven system still, and it was the hamsters that caused my DNS problem. Hopefully they are not done and when they are, it will be the way it was, even though so much bad has happened!

No you ain't. I have seen your house! Well, I guess it's all perspective. Our house does look really good in the pictures, the siding last year made an incredible difference (hopefully it'll be paid for before I die).
But I live between the two perfect lawns. I'm workin' on it, but we just ain't up to community standards when it comes to landscapin'...
To: 2Jedismom; g'nad
2J, you know it really bothers me that this is just a consultation. I've been thinking ever since we heard about this that they need to just go ahead and get this taken care of.
I know thegirl is a tough cookie and everything. But, you know, I was one of those too when I was a kid and I think just because I wasn't yelling and screaming and carrying on that doctor-type people put me on hold too much with some painful things.
I have been praying that they'll see her and just take whatever action needs to be done fast so it gets taken care of and over with. TODAY There is nothing wrong with praying for TODAY!

Mornin' all!!! Checking in for morning roll call, and my daily assignments.
Rosie: LOVE that video. I think I should distrib to my department as a training film. The bit about asking if there is a child in the house is *too* funny. I've actually DONE that.
To: Corin Stormhands
I'm workin' on it, but we just ain't up to community standards when it comes to landscapin'... Haven't seen it, but I'm sure your yard, regardless of its current context, would be a big improvement in our future neighborhood. :)

I agree. There's been too much of a delay already. I pray the doc can do something super soon.
To: HairOfTheDog
Ah.... They mow diagonally don't they? Yes! Shoot, if we didn't have clover, I wouldn't have a "lawn."
When we first moved in our neighbor on the driveway side was workin' two jobs. But until I found that out I couldn't figure out why he would mow and rake leaves after dark. I told the wife I suspected he was a vampire because I never saw him during the day.

No, the hamsterdrive system is the *new* one. The backup is a hand-crank model, operated by some guy named Otto. Sometimes he gets tired or has to change hands, and sometimes he gets confused and cranks it backwards. That's why it stops working sometimes.

One of the guys here at work...his niece used the child restriction settings to lock her mom out. She couldn't get anywhere on the internet, except for a few very "child friendly" sites. I think the niece is about eight. Pretty funny...though not for the mom!
