Lara Roxx who worked with Darren James has tested HIV-positive. Lara Roxx, one of three Canadians in the first-generation, has just been confirmed positive by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM).
Roxx, who's age is rumoured to be either 18 or 19-years-old, performed in a scene with Darren James, Mark Anthony, Maxxx Black on March 24. Black is now quarantined as a member of a new line of the virus.
Black has since performed with Rayveness, who is now considered in second-generation of this new line of the virus and quarantined as well.
Roxx had only been in the adult industry for three months.
Her agent Daniel Perreault, the agent who handles the women for the Eromodel Group, told Roxx not to come to Los Angeles on this trip, saying he didn't believe she was ready yet. She came anyway.
In another development in James' line of the virus, John Strong has been identified as a person who worked with Banesca, one of the women in the first-generation of that line. Strong has been placed on the quarantine list.
As of 4/13/04, the AIM Healthcare Foundation found a positive detection for the HIV Virus of an actor named Darren James. His test results are pending for further confirmation and viral loads of HIV. These pending tests will give us further information into the date Mr. James contracted the virus. The following people are on quarantine from working in the industry until they retest!
Was it worth it?
Maybe they could have a show "Queer eye for the THIN guy"?
Exactly. And I love how they are asking to Shut down the industry for two months, not Do Not Have Sex WITH ANYONE for two months.
According to the CBS article Drudge links to, this "actor" had himself tested every three weeks. Therefore, presumably since his last (all clear) test, he's already had sex with at least a dozen people (presumably both on- and off-film). Do the math. That works out to a change in sex partners about every other day, assuming a four-week period.
So he infects as many as twelve people, and it took as short as three-to-four weeks for his own infection to both manifest itself and spread to others. And those dozen, over the course of a month, are suspected to have spread the infection to roughly four dozen people (based on how many are "voluntarily quarantined" in the article). That's a four-fold increase in just a month, thanks to the porn industry. With the exception of the first guy, the four dozen (from the tone of the article) weren't tested as often as this first carrier. And, I gather, they're not gathering the names of those that THEY slept with until THEY fail their tests. Given the four-fold increase already shown, if those four dozen all have it, the number of "voluntary quarantines" would rise to several hundred.
Thus you can see why I love this line from the CBS article...
I think in general, they've done an appropriate job in terms of the quarantine measures taken, he said.
According to Drudge's article this morning, the number of porn "actors" listed as possibly infected has risen to "about 65". Last Friday, the number was 42. That's a 50% increase, without any additional people being named as infected. I wonder how they could have missed that many people the first time around?
One guy. Three weeks. Infection possibly spread to as many as sixty-five people. Not a problem!
Today's quote:
The HIV transmission, however it is taking place, is NOT occuring during the production of the porn. This gal got it some other way. How do we know this?
Because in the incredibly-juvenile world of today's porn, there is NO exchange of bodily fluids. When the moment of truth arrives, the male resorts to acting as if the female isn't even there - becoming the Sink Emporer and finishing the event off himself. It's so predictably stupid and mindless - BUT it does prevent any real transfer of bodily fluids.
The j***-off to completion is only one of the many reasons why today's cliche-ridden "adult films" have become a parody of themselves. Erotica COULD be done well - but no one in the industry seems to have even the most remote clue.
No, this gal most likely contracted HIV from drug use, or from a previous partner who was a druggie. She certainly not going to get it on the set of any of these porn movies.
Michael
You need to do a little more medical research on the subject, buddy (and I don't mean renting more porn films). If transmitting HIV is confined solely to the exchange of semenal fluid at the time of ejaculation, how would a heterosexual male contract HIV at all? And what about oral sex? Do you think the sex act is entirely "dry" of all bodily fluids until the male ejaculates?
All it takes is one of those viral buggers to slip through, via just about any drop of any excretion or secretion you'd care to name. All it takes is one to slip through - and unlike sperm, the HIV virus doesn't require an egg to be "successful". HIV is primarely a sexually transmitted disease, you know. If anybody knows the reality of that statement, I would think it'd be the porn industry. 65 names are now on the "quarantine" list, after less than four weeks of (admittedly highly promiscuous) sexual activity. I don't think they were all sharing needles.
"Excuse me, what's my motivation in this scene here? Oh yes, I forgot - I'm supposed to be in a state of - lessee - 'heightened arousal'. Don't I get any more lines than these? I'll need a few more minutes to get into character. I simply cannot work under these conditions!"
