"Engagement"? This thread is a plea for disengagement!
"Civility?"
You mean like the post #9, which told me, quote, "go f*ck yourself"?
Is that the civility that you're talking about?
Evidence? Like the mountains of documentation pointing to foul play and judicial corruption? The evidence that a woman is being starved to death in the United States of America by order of the government? The Death-to-Terri crowd has been dogmatically ignoring evidence throughout this debate.
Reason? As in religiously adhering to the judgement of the "rule of law" even when it is eminently provable that not only was the law not followed in this case, but rather made up by the judge entirely based on his own discretion?
Logic? As in the logic that says starving someone to death is not the same as murdering them?
Clean your own house, first, and then maybe I'll take those arguments seriously.
And which was immediately pulled at my request.
You wanted a fight; you almost got one; and now you're whining.
The offensive post #9 has been removed.
You can discuss this without namecalling, though. I do. I believe in the sanctity of life, and think on principle it's wrong to take away a human's personhood because of severe handicap.
But that's not the only viewpoint in our country.
I will continue to advocate the point of view that you choose life over death, unless it's very clear that there are wishes to the contrary.
But I won't twist data, call names, deny people their civil rights because of this.
If my position is valid, I don't have to do those things.
It is rather uncharitable to characterize those who desire rational discussion of the facts as being "The Death-to-Terri crowd". This is exactly the sort of useless name-calling which has dragged down the discussion on the main forum.
