I'm waiting for them to add John Paul II to the list of dead gay icons.

Had to be gay. Make you sick after a while doesn't it?

If you ask me, I'd say JW Booth was gay. I mean c'mon a theatre actor, say no more.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say that it could be proven that Lincoln was a homosexual. What would be the lesson that would be learned?

If Lincoln was in fact a homosexual, he made a free and wise choice not to be a divisive activist for sodomites (which was a politically correct word back then), but a force for unification of a young, burgeoning, but bitterly divided nation. In short -- it would prove that anyone could be a great leader if they put their own personal sexual proclivities on the back burner and worked for the greater good of society -- even if that meant pretending that they were straight.

By implication, this would mean that Jim McGreevey blew his chance to be a great leader when he quit being like Lincoln -- a homosexual in a hermetically sealed closet.

Perhaps we should simply classify all homosexuals as sex offenders. Since the DSM is functionally political when it comes to sex, why not legislate homosexuality back into mental disease lists.

Yeah, and I heard that Liberace was a closet heterosexual.

When are these people gonna learn to fut-the-shuck-up! You know I never had any real animosity towards gays during the '70s and '80s, everybody just kinda kept their sex thang relatively private. I am now so sick of GAY GAY GAY that I gleefully cheer every social and political setback that the homo-activists suffer.

I certainly don't want homosexuals proselytizing in public schools about their diseased, deviant and frankly disgusting sexual practices as an acceptable "lifestyle" choice. I am livid about the problems these a$$holes caused the Scouting program at a time when this country needs it more than ever!

I'd be happy if they all moved to Maryland and then they could have all the rights and laws they wanted. They could even change the name of the state to Nancyland.

Furthermore, I don't want to pick up the tab for treatment and medications for diseases caused by a behavioral choice!!

Amen to that!! It is pretty pathetic when your sexuality becomes your identity.

One would have thought they would try to out James Buchanan instead of Lincoln. On the other hand, how close was Lincoln to Walt Whitman?

Yeah, but Lincoln had to be a homo. Didn't Booth sneak up and kill him while he was enjoying a play? Play, theatre...get it? No red blooded man goes to plays.

Anyone not blinded by homophobia will recognize that the president who preserved our republic was gay

Preserved the Republic?

Well...not exactly...Old Abe preserved the political union of the states but with his pushing through unconstitutional railroad subsidies, high protective tariffs, centralized banking, internal improvements, the first federal income tax, blockading southern ports without the consent of Congress, his unconstitutional suspension of habeas corpus, imprisoning the entire Maryland state legislature at Fort McHenry, censoring all telegraph communications, shutting down of dozens of Northern newspapers, imprisoning thousands of Northern political opponents, forced deportation of Ohio congressman Vallandigham, leading a military that engaged in "total war" on the southern states (shelling and burning entire cities and ravaging the entire Shenendoah Valley)...its hard to claim that he actually preserved the Republic...destroyed it is more like it

First, you need to fix that sig line.

Second:

its hard to claim that he actually preserved the Republic...destroyed it is more like it

Yeah, right. Just what FR doesn't needs: another raving neo-confederate whom despises the Union the secessionists tried to destroy, and the man who saved it.

Everyone is secretly gay. This whole opposite sex thing is just a ruse cooked up in homophobic bio-laboratory.

These perverts see what they want to see. Lincoln was gay, Jesus was gay, Eleanor was gay, Robin Hood was gay, Alexander was gay, seagulls are gay, penguins in the Berlin zoo are gay.

That isn't the dangerous part, it's actually kind of funny if you look at it.

The dangerous part is they think your kids are gay too, they just need some early brainwashing around the 4th grade or so to help them "discover" that.

Here is my short list of people who have been identified as gay after their death (usuallly in a modern biography):

1. Lafayette (well, he was French)
2. Alexander Hamilton
3. Eleanor Roosevelt
4. And of course, Abe

Can anyone list others?

Neo-confederate?...I've never lived in the South and have no affection for the Confederacy...most of whose leaders, in the decades leading up to the war, trampled the Constitution in an effort to preserve slavery as badly as the Republicans and Lincoln trampled the Constitution in an effort to preserve the union

But what was the need, and where was the moral right, to force people in the South to submit to political rule from Washington...particularly when, in doing so, 650,000 Americans died, the Constitution and our federalist system was irrevocably destroyed, the southern states were ravaged and left to grinding poverty for generations after (which many leading historians cite as the primary factor behind the rise of Jim Crow laws after the end of Reconstruction) and the government was left with massive war debt?

Was there any good reason for preserving the union?

Instead of apologizing, spokespeople for these groups simply responded, "We thought John Nash was dead"

LOL. That is too funny.
