Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation Urges Wife of Disabled Jacksonville Man to Err on the Side of Life To: National Desk Contact: Pamela F. Hennessy for the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, 727-445-1766, phenn@zimp.org CLEARWATER, Fl., May 14 /Christian Wire Service/ –- The volunteers with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, along with the family of Terri Schiavo, are urging Jacksonville, Florida resident, Eliza Thomas, to allow her 34 year old husband to live. The Foundation has learned that Scott Thomas suffered brain injury in September of 2004 and has since been incapacitated and dependent on others. His mother, Pamela Patton, has petitioned the courts for guardianship of the disabled man and was awarded a temporary guardianship which could expire as early as June 3, 2005. Mr. Thomas's wife, Eliza, is currently seeking to take his guardianship over. Ms. Patton is currently pursuing neurological testing and treatment options with a Clearwater, Florida neurologist, Dr. William Hammesfahr. Mrs. Thomas, however, has reportedly stated that her intention is to move her husband to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida and seek the authority to direct the removal of his gastric feeding tube, causing his death by dehydration and starvation. According to Ms. Patton, her son speaks a limited vocabulary, gives affirmative and negative hand signals and has successfully answered questions of where he lives, where he attended school and his situation. She states that he is aware and oriented. The volunteers of the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation are urging Florida's Department of Children and Families (Florida's social services agency) to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thomas's injuries and to ensure that he is not currently a victim of abuse and neglect. Terri Schiavo's family is asking Mrs. Eliza Thomas to err on the side of life. According to them, the dehydration and starvation death suffered by their daughter in March of this year was anything but a peaceful and painless death. Statement of Bob Schindler, Terri Schiavo's father: The suffering our daughter endured and her death over the course of nearly two weeks was horrific. I am pleading with Mrs. Thomas to please reconsider her decision to seek the removal of Scott's feeding tube and to allow him to receive the therapy and rehabilitation he needs to improve. I emailed the link and article from The Empire Journal, EXCLUSIVE Cognizant Jacksonville Man in Life and Death Tug-of-War to all the media in Jax this morning. So far nothing on any of the sites. I do expect that David Allen (9 p.m. on The Patriot) will pick it up but I am skeptical on the others.
Oh those poor murderers, I am so insensitive to their feelings. I should be tied up and shot for my insensitivity.

Just like you don't believe the things you read, I look at the source and I don't believe the facts as their stating it. I don't believe this man talks or anything else like it. There is no way a wife would order the feeding tube removed from a spouse who can communicate. Not only wouldn't it happen, the laws wouldn't allow it to happen. I'm going to do my own research on this, because it doesn't pass the smell test.

The moderator you fooled on that thread last night didn't realize how devious you were until a later poster who joined just today started talking about the detailed content of a post he claims he hadn't seen.
That meant that YOU informed him. Although you claimed to be offended and upset, and it was wrong and all that, you couldn't control yourself enough to keep from broadcasting the story.
That's why I'm starting out this thread with a complaint to the Moderator to the effect that you are a chronic complainant who is not really interested in eliminating a supposedly offending post ~ just one who wants to harrass other posters with deletion notices.
It is! I know kids like this. The original article said that many of the kids in this class had a feeding tube.
Florida law does not protect the life of a person who is in good health from having their feeding tube removed. Sad to think one of them could end up being starved.

No doubt you will come up with a third for this thread. There are probably yet other ways he died reported on other threads in the past.
It's Florida law. "Sustenance and hydration" are considered medical treatments in Florida law. Until that law is changed, these incidents will continue to happen.
