Universe Is Not "Billions of Years" Old
Creation Science Evangelism (CSE) ^ | ? | Kent Hovind

Posted on 05/20/2005 12:40:25 PM PDT by PioneerDrive

The general theory of evolution is based on several faulty assumptions. (Note: It is important to understand by this statement that we are not disputing simple variations that some call "microevolution," whose micro-changes are often observed but never lead to a fundamentally different kind of plant or animal.) The following assumptions of evolutionary theory are easy to prove false:

The universe is billions of years old.

Life spontaneously arose from nonliving minerals.

Mutations create or improve a kind.

Natural selection has creative power.

In this section we will deal with the first of these assumptions. The others will be dealt with elsewhere. If, in fact, it could be demonstrated that the universe is not billions of years old, all other arguments about evolution become meaningless and unnecessary.

In children’s fairy tales, we are told: frog + magic spell (usually a kiss) = prince

In modern "science" textbooks we are told: frog + time = prince

The same basic fairy tale (evolution) is being promoted in textbooks today, but the new magic potion cited is time. When the theory of evolution is discussed, time is the panacea for all the thousands of problems that arise.

An excellent but lengthy article listing many things that would seem to limit the age of the earth to an age that wouldn't allow enought time for evolution to occur.

EVERYONE please be civil! Please take the time to read the whole article before posting comments

The Universe is actually only 3 weeks old. All your older memories have been implanted to make you think the universe is older than it actually is.

Do the math, statistically it is impossible even allowing for a positive mutation every second. With just 200 sequential improvements that would be…

200 times 199 times 198 times 197 times….. Well you get the picture. SCIENCE of statistics, young earth!

What a pathetic list of warmed over tripe.

Niagara Falls’ erosion rate (four to five feet per year) indicates an age of less than 10,000 years.

An objection masterfully refuted by the (creationist) geologist Hugh Miller in his debunking of "Flood Geology" 150 years ago

"Didn't you find ANY science in the article?"
I didn't. Maybe you can point it out.

The gist with the whole watch deal seems to be.

The earth can't be billions of years old because the bible says it's not. Everything else is wrong.

Then he goes on to quote stuff from a bunch of books.

Once again science is left out of Creationism.

I was going to read that whole article. Then I got to the part excerpted below and figured I would be wasting vaulable minutes.

(From the article):

"The Bible teaches that: God created the universe approximately 6000 years ago, ex nihilo (out of nothing) in six literal, twenty-four hour days. Then, approximately 4400 years ago, the earth was destroyed by a worldwide Flood"

Those who believe the earth is billions of years old will typically try to discredit one or two of these evidences...

What evidences?!? It's a just a list of allegorical King James Bible verses, translated through several different languages over 1,600 years by men who still thought the Earth was flat and the sun and moon revolved around it.

what a total crock !!!

grand canyon only a couple thousand years old? oldest human record only four thousand? whats the point of going on, this guy is ridiculous.

its scary when psudo science gets dressed up and does the town. you can still believe in god and the bible without having to deny away some obvious truths, and engage in absurd psudo science contortions.

Thanks for at least being openminded enought to read the article. The "evidences" he's refering to aren't the Bible verses, he's talking about the things like the Mississippi river erosion rates, etc. etc.
