Boortz accuses Terri's supporters of jumping to all sorts of conclusions, then turns around and does the very same thing himself. For Boortz to pretend to know Terri's precise mental state would be laughable if it wasn't so disgusting. He is only trying to rationalize his zeal for having Terri put to death. There is NOTHING in the autopsy that shows Terri deserved to be murdered. In times of doubt, we should err on the side of life. What is so difficult about that? If Terri truly was "gone" already and had absolutely no awareness of her existence, then what harm was done by allowing her to live? Even an old, tired dog isn't put to sleep if someone wants to take it home and care for it. In the abscence of evidence that proved she wouldn't have wanted to live in her condition, her parents should have been allowed to care for her. This was a needless, senseless killing any way you look at it.
Whether Terri Schiavo had any cognative ability or was ever going to was not the issue, so he pulls the old trick of setting up a straw man and knocking it down. The issue, imo, is whether we now find it acceptable to kill such a person, for that is what was done here. I don't find that acceptable.
She had no mental state. If you read the atopsy, you would know that she had no brain funtion at all. The Cerebal cortex nuerons were "globaly absent" In otherwords, the 685 ml (about 80% of a quart) of cerebrospinal fluid was what was left of it. Terri died Feb 25 1990, her brain died (which happens after oonly 10 mins) from lack of a pulse for nearly 2 hours.
That autopsy report should have started with "Once upon a time"
