MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alabama Gov. Bob Riley called for a travel boycott of Aruba on Tuesday until authorities on the Dutch Caribbean island cooperate more fully with the family of a Mountain Brook teenager who has been missing since a graduation trip in May.
Riley asked the governors of the other 49 states to join him in urging a boycott of Aruba on behalf of the family of Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old Mountain Brook High graduate last seen on the island May 30.
Her mother, Beth Holloway-Twitty, joined Riley at the Alabama Capitol for the boycott announcement. She contends Aruban authorities have failed to adequately investigate the possible murder of her daughter, who was with a teenager, Dutch national Joran van der Sloot, and Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe on the night she disappeared.
They were held for a time and released.
"Are you also teaching them that they are responsible for everything OTHERS do as well?"
I am teaching them that what they do can have a direct affect on what others do. So in a sense yes I am and in a sense no I am not.
I teach them that everyone is responsible for their own actions....including themselves.
In my money and bar example I offer that I teach them the reality. When you leave your money on the bar it is partly your fault it is gone when you come back.
Send him an "I hate Mohammed" t-shirt - in arabic of course.
They probably wouldn't have noticed if they didn't actively inquire. They had a responsibility to make sure she was OK before leaving her alone with a group of strangers in a foreign country. It matters not how she was acting.
One other thing.....does everyone who has one young stupid drunken night come from broken homes? Or for that matter does one stupid drunken night make you ethically or morally bankrupt? Who do you think you are?
You owning up to it in the Natalee context: I attributed it to me, a quote I stand firmly by on, now run along to bed, I hate long goodbyes.
Not so fast. I can't go to bed yet without praising you for being such a sanctimonious pr*ck. I know everyone on this thread was holding their collective breaths, waiting to hear what YOU would do around someone you called a creep. It added such depth and perspective to the Natalee Holloway tragedy. Thanks for sharing, and sweet dreams.
Too funny coming from a newbie.... 10/5/05 LOL!

" her friends might not have surely noticed if she had been drugged"
Ok you took a position solidly..so I ask you this.....if it is so unlike her to go off by herself with strangers ( the barbie doll factor) then why was there not cops called right then???? AT THE BAR? NATALIE IS GONE NATALIE IS GONE........
maybe they didnt notice her being phsyically impaired...for reasons you describe....but they sure would have notivced such "out of character" behavior and been alarmed about it right?
Seems to me the trouble began the NEXT DAY when she wasn't ready to Leave Aruba....
"Not sure exactly which mistake you want to pin on her,"
Associating with strangers in a foreign land...up to and including leaving with them...not to mention being alone with them in or out of the bar.
ROFLOL !!!
I personally would avoid them, I made that clear.
It added such depth and perspective to the Natalee Holloway tragedy.
In the case of Natalee Holloway, the last thing I would do is leave her alone with 3 complete strangers and I would tell her that she deserved better than those three a$$holes.
LMAO you fall victim to another simpletons judging tool.
I may be new to this forum as for POSTING but this is BY far not my first rodeo. Not by a LONG shot.
I have been Reading here for a LOOONG time. You really need some new material.
Isn't your child worth it? At what moment do you say to your missing child....I give up on you..rest in peace? Think about it. It isn't like she has been found and they are still demanding justice. I might could let that part go. But what parent could ever quit looking for their child at all costs? Beth has said many times that not one shred of evidence proves that she is dead. She really could be somewhere else. Not likely I know but there is a chance. One chance in a billion is all I would need to still be pounding the pavement minute by minute to find my child.
Where were you when I wanted to sell that 1984 Chevy Citation? Tell the truth, are you really that stupid and gullible, or are you just playing troll?
Just can't help yourself, can you? Gotta blame either the victim or her friends. It's a scab you can't quit picking and its obviously interfering with your sanity:
Would that put them one iota closer to finding their child? I am sure not a minute goes by that they kill themselves inside for allowing such a trip. Most of us have great hindsight. Do you think by making those feelings public it would really make you say okay now I feel somethng for this family? Why do they need to acknowledge it to you in order to gain your sympathy? I really think the lesson has been learned. Don't you think that by keeping this in the news it is in iteself a reminder of what not to do?
"Gotta blame either the victim or her friends."
This is what you clearly MISS.
BLAME is to be had many places for many things by many people in this case. It is YOU that cannot see this simple reality.
Grow up child.
BWAAA HAHAHAHA you are not the first to claim zot kitty on me and like the others you make mistake. But hey it's your HOLE.....keep on diggin..after all it is your right to chose.
Just remember you are responsible for the choices you make.
Tell me demkicker...what does BlueStateDepression represent?
My guess you will not even respond to that question.
