I believe you are on the right track..this "approving body" is Extra-Constitutional...spawned from an "Executive Order"..remember Clinton..BIG Executive Order fan.." Kinda neat... stroke of the pen legislation "

The question is not can Congress challenge but will they ?

A sad, bigoted, xenophobic, knee-jerk, redneck'ish night, but it's the only one we got.

No. Those were the best arguments and insults you guys could come up with; but that is not representative of the folks that were on this thread arguing against the GOP mouthpieces tonight.

As to having "access" it sure makes it easier... And that we can agree on. The difference being what is accessed and that - I am waiting to find out the facts on. I do not understand Pike street - must be an inside thing - but you also have a good evening.

How many demonstrations did you attend in the streets?

Huh? You believe that the Islamic world was against the 9/11 attacks?

I asked you a question.

You answer my asked question, then I answer your question.

I'll ask question again: How many demonstrations did you attend in the streets?

No offense to Pukin Dog, but this is anything but "over". Congress can do practically anything it wants if it has the votes to override a veto. A good example of this would be how the reconstruction era congress totally took Andrew Johnson to the woodshed.

If congress wanted to, it would disovled CIFUS and disolve all of the port leases. The president couldn't do anything about and neither could the SCOTUS.

BTW, contray to what Pukin Dog alledges, Congress most certianly does have foreign policy power - the approval of treaties is a glaring example.

. . a man who swore an oath to protect Americans . .

The President does not take such an oath. Maybe you're thinking of your local police force?

From the Library of Congress Web site:

Each president recites the following oath, in accordance with Article
II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution
:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully
execute the office of President of the United States, and
will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and
defend the Constitution of the United States."

Power of the purse, too.

Well did you see any huge demonstrations of Catholics celebrating the IRA attacks either.

I saw lots of Catholics in the Northeast send money to Sinn Fein, and politicians like Peter King and Ted Kennedy suck up to Gerry Adams when he showed his murderous face here in the States.

Are American Muslims responsible for what Wahabbists do?

>> And none of the Republican Presidents ever had a Republican controlled congress. <<

1) Gee, having the same party controlling both houses of Congress didn't stop Kennedy, Johnson, and Carter from vetoing bills that weren't sufficently socialist enough for them.

2) Republicans Coolidge and Hoover veteod plenty of bills passed by a Republican controlled Congress. So did Ike during his first term.

The administration already tried suck up to the Islamists a couple of weeks ago when the danish muslim cartoons came out. The state department went out of their way to come out against the notion of a free press in order not to offend the muslims.

You're nothing but a MSM dupe. You repeat their lies.

"Is it just me or do I see the same pro-Miers crowd supporting this bizarre deal with a radical Islamic nation?

Many are also from the same crowd who supported the President's signing of McCain's CFR bill, CAFTA, $15 billion taxpayer dollars being thrown down the African money pit (ostensibly to fight AIDS), and nearly every "compassionate" big gov't legislation the President has signed. .....and his "guest worker" program, of course.

Interesting that he's threatening to use his previously unused "veto pen" on this.

http://www.workersliberty.org/node/view/3760?PHPSESSID=93d

When 1,000 Catholics in the Short Strand area of East Belfast march against the IRA, when "IRA scum out" is painted on walls by local people, things have begun to change in Northern Ireland.

http://www.socialistparty.org.uk/2005/383/index.html?id=pp4.htm

Thousands of people have attended protest vigils in Catholic working-class areas of Belfast over the last two weeks. It has not been against the British state or loyalist attacks or for justice and equality but against the republican movement.

You're an ignoramus.

This is a shameful day for FR. I'm sure we'll be treated to Coulter tomorrow, with another "raghead" remark or some such, to egg on the zoo.
