Is President Bush and comedian Rush Limbaugh Undermining the Morale of the U.S. Troops?
opinion | 02/27/2006 | brianbaldwin

Posted on 02/27/2006 10:09:57 AM PST by Brian_Baldwin

For some people, who they play golf with is more important than the morale of the U.S. troops who are trying to defend us from Arab terrorism.

Opps - I’m sorry . . . We are not allowed to say “Arab” terrorism. In fact, even the term Islamic terrorism is a no-no with some.

I mean, the Nazis, there weren’t just Germans. There were Arabs for example, who were Nazis. Kosovars who were Nazis, and such. And today, Iranians aren’t Arabs, but many are Islamic terrorists. And so, just as it would have been wrong to call it a war on Germany then, instead of a war of Nazism, today it would be wrong, in fact racist, to even use terms such as Arab terrorism. It would make things like port deals look bad for business, for example.

Did you know, that according to some folks who sound like Rush Limbaugh, UAE emirs make really good golfers? And hunters. Who you play golf with, and hunt quail with, that’s important. More important than a lot of things. Like, if you can play golf with big shots, or hunt with the famous. Like when the UAE emirs hunt with Osama bin Laden, for example.

Anyway, let’s all make jokes about those who want to protect our borders. In fact, not only never mind our troops in foreign lands who are suppose to be fighting this terrorism thing so that America and America’s borders are safe, that isn’t the news - well, not news to some comedians on the radio, some in the Administration, and hey Rush, why limit our belittlement only to those who want to protect our borders but happen to not wear a uniform? In fact, I’ve heard those in uniform who are saying the same thing as those who aren’t in uniform regarding protecting our borders, and, why not make some really funny sound-takes poking fun at our troops whose mission is to protect America and America‘s borders from the enemy? I mean, isn’t it already true that morale of our U.S. troops is being undermined when it’s good for business? Opps - I’m sorry, I called some Arabs the enemy, and we can‘t use terms such as the enemy. The air space, airports, seaports, border crossings, they are all our borders, and it’s all the same issue, but it’s no problem. If we give amnesty to illegal aliens, and leave our borders, from the airports, seaports, land ports, bleeding, it’s good for business - and according to the Wall Street Journal, Rush, Bush, and the other experts, it’s good for golf.

The border with Mexico, and the port borders, they are really the same thing. And that’s why the port deal is so important to Bush. And important for business and who you play golf with. And who you hunt quail with. Because the port deal, it’s the bell-weather to passing the Bush Administration amnesty for illegal aliens which is coming. Bush needs to pass the port thing to the Arab emirs, to get his amnesty for illegal aliens passed. It's political, not just business. If the port thing goes down, then it’s pretty much a done deal the amnesty for illegal aliens will go down. So, it’s real, real important for Bush to get the port deal through, since they are really part of the whole, same, issue, and then, bingo, the amnesty thing is pretty much a cake deal.

Luckily, Bush has folks like Limbaugh and O‘Reilly working for him.

Don‘t worry, them Hannity and Savage folks, they will be dealt with. They certainly won‘t be playing golf or hunting with the right folks no time soon.

Now, folks like Hannity and Savage, they are saying we should fix our borders and enforce our immigration laws BEFORE we even, ever, consider the Bush amnesty for illegal alien guest workers program. And, like they say, we should consider fixing our port security BEFORE we even, ever, consider turning management over to emirs and such who play golf and hunt with Osama types. Fix the borders FIRST, then maybe we can consider the other crazy things.

But, to folks like Rush, that’s a funny idea. Folks like Hannity and such, they are so stupid. We don’t need to fix anything. Everything is ok.

For some reason, even with all the jokes, Rush isn't convincing the majority of Americans, however.

Well, he will keep trying. I am sure he will soon convince the majority of Americans. And then Bush will get his port deal and his amnesty for illegal aliens deal through. With the help from friends. Friends come from all kinds of diverse backgrounds. They can be comedians like Rush. Or emirs from Arab places. They can have all kinds of business deals that are real, immediately, important to who you play golf with.

Hey, I got a good idea. Mexico and Pakistan are our allies with the war on terror. And our allies with the war on drugs. Bush is telling us that all the time. Mexico, for example, has made major, major and significant contributions regarding fighting drugs and drug dealers from Mexico and the war on drugs overall. The war on drugs has NOTHING to do with our open borders with Mexico. No. It has NOTHING to do with ports, airports, borders or any of that stuff. It has to do with allies like Mexico, allies on the war on drugs and the war on terrorism like Mexico. And, we need to outsource the management of our border check points along the Mexican border to a Mexican company.

And, for that matter, we should outsource our nuclear program to Pakistan. They know a lot about that stuff, and as an ally on the war on terror, it makes a lot of sense.

Communist China should manage all the manifests of the Port of San Francisco. China is a major trading partner, and will be hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics. They should also work with our scientists regarding development of our multi-staging missile systems and our Navy fighter planes.

Communist China should also manage all the manifests of the Port of Taiwan, and in fact manage Taiwan itself. It will be good for business, and good for the Bush Administration’s foreign policy objectives.

All of this will be good for our troops.

Americans are too stupid to understand this. But thanks to the jokes of Rush, maybe the will understand in the end.

If they are listening.

It helps if you make your subject and predicate agree in your title. Perhaps that would inspire more folks to read your screed.

Proper usage is important.

And no, I don't believe they are.

I have always ilked Rush.

I (gasp) disagree with him and the admistration on this. Then again I am also one of those crazies that want our southern border shut down immediately and the mass deportations to begin the next day.

Funny that the only time writers such as this give a damn about our military is when they try to "use" them.

In before the promise of comedy but failure to deliver zot.

Alec, err, Brian, I do hope you don't get zotted as you apparently have been around for 6 years. BUt, it really was not a great op-ed piece.

I thought Raimondo was in favor of the ports deal. Has he switched?

As to why people are opposed...I have a theory about why some on the left my be opposed to the deal, although I'm probably not the first to bring this up.

It sticks in the craw of the lefties that we have an ally in the Middle East. They see U.A.E. as a stepping stone for further U.S. 'nation building' if you will. They don't want us to have friends in the regions, just enemies.

But they are wrong on this one. It's just a business deal, one that may have benefits for the U.S. They need to deal with it.

As to the right, still not sure why some on the right are opposed....some of it is Islamophobia, but I think a lot of it is just an ingnorance of global affairs.

What part of it do you disagree with? Our borders aren't wide open? Drugs flow freely through the 'come one, come all dealers border?' Arabs weren't Nazis? Our soldiers aren't fighting in a war over there to protect us at home? (open borders) Fix our ports and borders before turning them over?

What exactly do you not agree with?

I didn't know Rush is a comedian...

the parody songs are a hoot.

Rush is a teacher, a conduit and an egotist.

From time to time he is supremely brilliant.

You forgot to source this article, but from the read, it doesn't like it is worth going over there. The author doesn't have a clue other than a few platitudes and he/she has sunk to the lowest form of debate, accusing their opponent of being 'on the take' per se. Once they have to go to that argument to explain why their opponents disagree, they have lost the debate. Same old argument used by the environs against any scientist who disagrees with them.. they must be paid by 'big oil'..

"What part of it do you disagree with?"

LOL! Everything from the first word to the last. Of course, I extend a invitation to the author to be my guest at the officer's club of his choice where he can conduct an on the spot poll. I'd also make the same offer for NCO's clubs but their response might be too physical.
