Court throws out challenge to EPA findings on secondhand smoke - (December 2002) - The ruling was based on the highly technical grounds that since the EPA didn't actually enact any new regulations (it merely declared ETS to be a carcinogen without actually adopting any new rules), the court had no jurisdiction to rule in the matter. This court ruling on the EPA report is NOT a stamp of approval for that report. Judge Osteen's criticisms of the EPA report are still completely valid and is accompanied by other experts.

While a growing majority of Americans favor smoking restrictions in public places, many adults still expose their children to significant health risks by puffing tobacco at home
As a former smoker (quit a year ago) I told many people that public smoking bans were just the beginning. Now they are going to go after you in your home. Soon it will be considered child abuse to smoke around your kids. This IS going to happen. And liberals claim NOT to be communists.
Right.

A traditionless nation of self absorbed asthmatics will crumble before the third world invasion like sodden cardboard. I'm glad I had the chance to live in better, freer days.
Mexico doesn't have any smoking restrictions worth speaking of, Aztlan won't either.

Here we go again eh?
More proof of the old adage that if you repeat a lie long enough, it will become the truth.
Texas has just passed a dollar a pack tax on cigarettes and I haven't decided if I will pay it or not. Wonder what's next if the revenue does not come in?

Just wish we had some people here in America that were around in this nation in the 1770s. Oh, we do. They are going to be protesting tomorrow while the taxpayers sit in their a$$e$ & bitch at themselves. Then wonder why were headed to totalitarianism.

You can bet your sweet bippy that the anti-smokers who drink may regret all their crap about the smoking when the nannys come after them for drinking in their home with children or having guns.

The vast majority of adults in 200597 percent-- recognized the dangers of exposure to secondhand smoke from parental smoking Not here on FR. The wackjobs here assert the earth is flat and then brag about how they put their own kids at risk. Even so far as to admitting they smoked while pregnant. (Hint: it's not a conservative value to gamble with the health of your fetus)

I'm reminded of a quote from the Movie Patriot.
Why should I change 1 tyrant 3000 miles away, for 3000 tyrants, 1 mile away?
Sounds like we are almost to that point.

It won't stop until smoking is against the law at every place and time, and "lawbreakers" are subject to incarceration. "War on Tobacco"
ATF will eventually engage in raids against homes suspected of holding "significant" quantities of tabacco (like a pack of cigs). If you are pulled over for a random check, and smell like tabacco, your vehicle will also be subject to police search.
The totalitarians on both the "liberal" and the "conservative" sides want this - they desire the setting up of a police-state dystopia. Beware both groups. The moral busybodies will destroy your liberties with the approval of their own conscience.

Let's see, ban smoking in privately owned places of business, ban smoking on beaches, ban smoking on sidewalks, ban smoking in cars. Smokers smoke in the privacy of their own homes. Anti's shocked that they eliminated all places of smoking away from children and it results in smokers smoking in their homes around children.
Well, duh!
Now, let's buck up and outlaw tobacco! Can the government live without the revenue?
