Walk around Beverly Hill, Santa Monica, Malibu, Westwood and you are likely to major stars or powerhouse entertainment people not to mention tons of women who manage to make Kat look homely.
Precisely. Having lived in L.A. for half my life, I can tell you Los Angeles is as much a state of mind as a locality. It's a city and a county filled with many smaller satellite cities to L.A. city.
Depending on who does the counting and when, the city has the largest or second largest (behind NYC) population of any city in the nation. L.A. County is definitely the largest county in the nation. It's huge both geographically and in population.
Yet we are the largest major market in the nation without an NFL team. We haven't had one for years, and no one cares. Everytime the local politicians announce a new scheme to bring in an NFL team, the reaction from the general public is a collective shrug.
If we care to, we can see celebrities every day of the week, but the vast majority of us merely shrug about them, too, and go on about our daily lives.
The only reason Katharine's event at her former high school attracted L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is because he's a pretty-boy publicity hound with ambitions of being governor or higher someday. He'd trample his own mother for a few seconds being seen on a popular TV show.
