The patient-victim doesn't even get the opportunity to profit from their house. The price is low balled, then sold to real estate agents/lawyers who are in the loop and these profiteers sell YOUR HOUSE for a lot of money.

This what I have tried to convey to my regular tax guy in an email this morning. I wasn't allowed to choose my own accountant to go over the books and work with me in an official capacity. End result, I find out that I owe the IRS, and that the idiot accountant(crony) submitted the wrong paperwork to the IRS, which means my tax guy is going to have to fight to fix. They made me sound like I was in business for myself, and not just a family member who was executing a will.
The financial institution which was chosen, the attorney, and the accountant, besides the temporary conservator, milked my parents estate for every nickle they could get.
I've certainly gotten an education from this nightmare. I hope others can prevent this from happening to them and their loved ones.
