Coulter vs Darwin
Godless | 06/06 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 06/09/2006 6:16:57 AM PDT by tomzz

You can't help but notice that there is a very vocal sort of a little clique of evolutionists on FreeRepublic, and there has always been a question in a lot of people's minds as to whether or not the theory of evolution is in any way compatible with conservatism.

This new book ("Godless") of Ann Coulter's should pretty much settle the issue.

Ann does not mince words, and she has quite a lot to say about evolution:

"Liberals' creation myth is Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, which is about one notch above scientology in scientific rigor. It's a make-believe story, based on a theory which is a tautology, with no proof in the scientists laboratory or the fossil record, and that's after 150 years of very determined looking. We wouldn't still be talking about it but for the fact that liberals think evolution disproves God....

It gets better from there, in fact a lot better. Ann provides a context for viewing the liberal efforts to shut down everything resembling debate on the subject in courtrooms and makes a general case that it is the left and not the right, which is antithetical to science in general. Anybody interested in this question of American society and the so-called theory of evolution should have a copy of this book

This post shouldn't be shown as being Ann Coulter's post but instead should be IDed as a vanity.

*sigh* More nonsense. Ann Coulter doesn't settle anything, she puts out the same old recycled garbage with an additional topping of hysteria.

All I know is that the thing about Darwin is one of the more major points Ann is trying to make and so far amongst the "Godless" threads on FR, I hadn't seen anybody mention it.

I couldn't disagree more. You can understand how evolution and natural selection work without being terrified of the word 'Jesus' and scared of religion in general.

Some liberals don't like religion, so they punish the whole class by taking all signs of (Judeo-Christian) religion away. As a result they are imposing their own non-religious orthodoxy on everyone -- which is just as bad as imposing religion on everyone. But I fail to see how conservatives who understand evolution are Godless?

HUMAN SCIENTISTS FROM ANOTHER PLANET CREATED ALL LIFE ON EARTH USING DNA.

Traces of this epic masterpiece of creation can be found in all religious writings and traditions. It is to them that Moses, Jesus, Buddha and Mohammed referred. It is now time to welcome them.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On the 13th of December 1973, French journalist Rael was contacted by a visitor from another planet, and asked to establish an Embassy to welcome these people back to Earth.

The extra-terrestrial human being was a little over four feet tall, had long dark hair, almond shaped eyes, olive skin, and exuded harmony and humor. Rael recently described him by saying quite simply, "If he were to walk down a street in Japan, he would not even be noticed." In other words, they look like us, and we look like them. In fact, we were created "in their image" as explained in the Bible.

He told Rael that:

"We were the ones who designed all life on earth"
"You mistook us for gods"
"We were at the origin of your main religions"
"Now that you are mature enough to understand this,we would like to enter official contact through an embassy"

THE MESSAGES

The messages dictated to Rael explain that life on Earth is not the result of random evolution, nor the work of a supernatural 'God'. It is a deliberate creation, using DNA, by a scientifically advanced people who made human beings literally "in their image" -- what one can call "scientific creationism." References to these scientists and their work, as well as to their symbol of infinity, can be found in the ancient texts of many cultures. For example, in Genesis, the Biblical account of Creation, the word "Elohim" has been mistranslated as the singular word "God", but it is actually a plural word which means "those who came from the sky", and the singular is "Eloha" (also known as "Allah"). Indigenous cultures all over the world remember these "gods" who came from the sky, including natives of Africa (Dogon, Twa, etc.), America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.

Leaving our humanity to progress by itself, the Elohim nevertheless maintained contact with us via prophets including Buddha, Moses, Mohammed, etc., all specially chosen and educated by them. The role of the prophets was to progressively educate humanity through the Messages they taught, each adapted to the culture and level of understanding at the time. They were also to leave traces of the Elohim so that we would be able to recognize them as our Creators and fellow human beings when we had advanced enough scientifically to understand them. Jesus, whose father was an Eloha, was given the task of spreading these messages throughout the world in preparation for this crucial time in which we are now privileged to live: the predicted Age Of Revelation.

And most important of all, read the book, "Intelligent Design - Message from the Designers" the book which will revolutionize your thinking, transform your life and which is already changing the world.

I hadn't noticed anything of the sort. Maybe we could have a poll?

Actually, it gets worse and worse from there.

Ann hits *a* nail squarely on the head when she points out the Darwinism functions as a creation myth for liberals. The problem is, she then goes on with a parody of their world-view which, if taken as a comment on evolutionary biology, betrays a staggering ignorance of the content of modern biology and of science in general.

Darwinism has two faces, one as a scientific theory, the other as the secular atheists' creation-myth. Stripping away the second face cannot be done by misunderstanding and mischaracterizing the first face.

The defenders of neo-Darwinism on FR vex me only in that they often cannot distinguish between the perfectly proper attack on the logically and philosophically invalid use of evolutionary biology as a prop for an atheistic secularist world-view and an attack on the validity of evolutionary biology as a scientific theory, and similarly cannot distinguish between the criticism of the polemical defense of neo-Darwinism mounted by atheistic secularists and criticism of the scientific theory. Their politics and its relation to their views on science are not problematic at all as your post would suggest.

"You can't help but notice that there is a very vocal sort of a little clique of evolutionists on FreeRepublic,"

Your belief in something bigger than Darwin, Michael Shermer, and James Randi automatically qualifies you as an idiot/troll in their eyes. How dare you not pay homage to their advanced intelligence?

Actually, evolution is a creation myth only for Conservatives. Other know it's a theory of descent and adaption irrespective of any creation method. Ann's ignorance of the subject isn't unexpected in a lawyer.
