No kidding. I was pretty offended too.
I see a lot of junkies & prostitutes on my street. I still (as disgusted as I get some days) do not want to see them dead, rehab... or just not out front. I would like to see the problem go away, but not so permanently.

Good call. I don't really think there would be too many tears to clean up.

How is that? With the current mental status of most junkies, do you think they hold jobs to make money. Aren't most supporting their habits through theft, prostitution etc.
Those acts infringe on our (clean) lives, taxes (that could be better spent) & our health care system. What about the families of the users?
Also the violence & guns associated. Usually stored next door to Mr. & Mrs Jones.
I think that statement should be rethought

I consider true freedom to include the freedom to make bad choices (so long as they don't violate anyone's rights, which drug sale and use do not). With the current mental status of most junkies, do you think they hold jobs to make money. Aren't most supporting their habits through theft, prostitution etc.
Theft and prostitution are not drug sale and use. And if drugs were legal like the drug alcohol, they'd be cheap enough for their users to afford through can-collecting, panhandling, and the like, as alkies seem able to do.
taxes (that could be better spent) & our health care system.
If we choose to pay for self-inflicted harms it's us who are to blame.
What about the families of the users?
There you have half a point ... but violation of family rights is (correctly, I think) not seen as enough reason to ban the drug alcohol, particularly for unmarried childless adults.
Also the violence & guns associated.
The violence associated with drugs is due to their illegality and consequent high price ... as was the case with the drug alcohol during Prohibition. And since when is a conservative FReeper against guns?
