People say all kinds of things that they would do or accept, but you never know until you actually face the situation. Lots of people say that they would never accept a gay child, a biracial grandchild, or something else, but when it happens and they actually deal with having to say goodbye to their loved one forever, they can't do it.

Some can, however, and you have to wonder whether they understand the idea that you are supposed to love their children unconditionally.

I may not agree with Mary Cheney's decision to raise a child with her girlfriend, but it isn't my concern and I am glad the Cheneys have shown that they love their daughter and new grandchild.
