I read this on ajc.com

Boys 'not guilty' in puppy trial
One juror refuses to deliberate;
Fulton retrial set for Jan. 3.

Yes, it seems the ajc had 2 conflicting stories yesterday.
First a headline appeared saying they were found not guilty.
I told my husband about the juror who refused to deliberate.
At the risk of sounding RACIST I'm going out on a limb with a theory. I bet the "rogue juror" was a black man who refused to allow 2 more black men to be sent to prison for the life of a mere dog. (If anyone knows differently, please update us here).

I don't think this person could see the "big picture" in that it was far more reaching than the death of a puppy. It was the actions that led to the death. I think the jury will be doing society a HUGE favor to get these hoodlums off the street for awhile before they do this to a human (if they haven't already).

It means no conviction from this trial. So they can still be tried on those charges.

Ah the King Edward execution. I agree that this case is fitting for that.

These two deserve DEATH. I know puppies are not humans, but the capacity for cruelty shown here should be a warning.

Great point. Anyone who would do that to a PUPPY will not hesitate with a human. It shows a depravity and inhumanity that shocks all but the most hardened. I hope they get put in general population. I know how they feel about child molesters; I kind of hope this flows over to puppy abusers.

to all - understanding your thoughts. It was not a black man who was the holdout. It was a woman who would not discuss the issues and evidence.

Honestly, I don't care gender or race of the holdout. What concerns me is how the puppy suffered and how those lowlifes are gonna walk, most likely.

I'm very surprised, but THANKS for that update.
I was completely wrong!

I hope they get put in general population.

Too bad they could not be placed in a small room with about 10 hungry pit bulls.

Or maybe somewhat fed ones, you know, that aren't too terribly hungry, right then... And give it time...

LOL! The slow fear. But hunger may not be necessary. Most dogs, in my experience, can "smell" people like these, I'm sure they'd gladly rip their throats out on a full tummy as well.

What I know, is if my dogs growl at someone (not that little growl and then tail wag, the REAL growls of warning with raised hackles) I will not associate with that someone.

"I hate to think these animals will be back out in the community".

How can you call them animals, animals are beautiful spirits, they are scum of the earth, thats what they are.

I received my weekly 'In defence for animals' newsletter by email today and this story caught my eye. Reading what these humans did to the poor puppy ripped my heart out, how can people do this, i just don't understand how people can do this. An Animal is a living thing like you and me, that has a heart and a brain, thoughts and feelings. The difference between animals and us is that they are loyal and love unconditionally, they would travel miles to get to their loved ones, unlike some humans who are selfish and inhumane.
If I had one wish, it would be to have the power to physically stop these evil acts before they take place, kind of like superman always there to save the day, except I would look out for the four legged kind! Sometimes I am ashamed to be a human.
