Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.
Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.
"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

I think the Culture Warriors sense their control of the Conservative Agenda is rapidly slipping away from them and has been ever since the midterm disaster. The rise of Rudy, McCain and Romney at the expense of the Culture Warrior Wing of the party has them very upset. This is understandable. But isn't acceptable it the truly foul tactics employed by the CW's against Conseravtive traditionalists.. After all they alledge themselves to be the "morality" people.

One has every right to be suspicious of a table proporting to represent Giuliani's positions on issues put together by someone who opposes Giuliani's likely candidacy, when that table provides no footnotes or references to sources. It smacks of the worst of demogogic politics.

Oh, it's accurate all right. Your only defense, if your capable of such complex thought, is to argue semantics. You might say, as others have, that Giuliani does not support Gay Marriage. It is obvious that he does because, among other things, he vocally opposed the Marriage Amendment, he is a champion of domestic partnership/civil unions for gays, and is a member and support of more than one radical gay group that advocates for gay marriage. He has not come out a directly SAID that he support specifically "gay marriage" because that may lose him some supporters, but it is obvious to anyone who looks at everything else he's said and done where he stands on the issue.
It's just like saying that John McCain supports amnesty for illegal aliens. While John McCain will refuse to call it that, in fact the legislation that he supports does provide amnesty for illegal aliens.
But, even though you might get away with arguing such semantics, there is no question that on every one of the issues listed, except the last three, Giuliani opposes the Republican Party Platform. For example, on the gay marriage issue, the Party Platform supports the Marriage Amendment - Giuliani opposes it. And so on.
The Republican Party Platform should be the yardstick that we use to measure worthy Republican candidates. I'm not even talking about conservative Republican candidates, I'm talking about Republican candidates in general. If they don't support all or nearly all of the platform, then they can hardly lay claim to being a Republican and they are not worthy of Republican support.
You know, you just inspired me. I'm going to update that table with the Democrat Party Platform and demonstrate precisely where Giuliani stands and with whom he stands.

Give credit where it was due. President Bush has spent the last 6 years betraying his base and Congressional Republicans had to suffer for it last year.
