The transformation of the GOP into Democrat Party Lite?

It's not going to be DNC Lite; it's going to be a more moderate conservative party though; you all have had your foot on our necks for too long.

This country has to be governed in the middle; the world has moved on from the 50's.

The Contract with America will unite this party again. But we're not going to let you make abortion and guns the big issues this time around.

Okay, Christie Todd. We'll see about that. We've heard this stuff before, over and over again. And always, it's y'all who end up riding on the back of the bus where you belong.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

If you think a Republican Nominee can win without the 4 million members of the NRA actively supporting him you HAVE gone over to the dark side. You need to rethink the underlying sentiment in your over-hyperbolic post ASAP.

McCain has a 1st Amendment problem i.e. McCain-Feingold.

Rudy and Romney have a 2nd Amendment problem - both know it. Both are trying to do something about it. But if you really believe either candidate can BLOW OFF the 2nd Amendment supporters of the Conservative base - as your post does - and still be elected you're nuts.

Right now Rudy and his crack campaign staff are trying to walk the line of Foreign Policy/WOT perceived expertise trumping his anti-2nd stance figuring that the one will cancel out the other. The Dems aren't going to let him get away with it. They may want a Brady supporter in the Whitehouse but they want it to be THEIR Brady supporter.

Regards,

TS

Sooo...pro-life, pro-second amendment conservatives have had their "foot on your neck for too long? And you're here to advocate for moving the Republican Party to be LESS conservative and move it in the opposite direction? Did I get that right? I'm truly sorry that pro-life, pro-second amendment Free Republic has been working so hard to move things in a conservative direction against your mission to move them the opposite way. I'm sorry that we're all being so "old fashioned" and that you feel that we've "had our feet on your neck for too long". I guess that's why there seems to be so much contention between you and the conservatives here on Free Republic. Maybe your fundamental differences with the majority of the people on this website and its stated mission along with the views of its founder are the problem. You've thrown in the towel on advancing conservatism and now you think that everyone still in the fight for conservatism have their feet on your neck and are moving things in the wrong direction. Thank you for making things so clear. You've explained a great deal.
