There's no perfect human being. There's no perfect conservative either. Ronald Reagan did his share of things that when you look back on them, offend conservatives. If no one is allowed to change, we will never get a good candidate. Any candidate the GOP nominates WILL come with baggage. The Drive Bys/MSM will see to it that they do. This insistence on litmus tests is both foolish and destructive. We're never going to get a Reagan conservative because Reagan bless him, was one of a kind of human being and no one else will ever quite be like him.

Why do you vote Republican instead of Democrat? Every answer you give is a litmus test. That’s what politics is: that’s why we support one candidate over another: litmus tests. Will they stand up for what we believe in? Will their policies reflect that?

So, really, it boils down to what issues are litmus tests, and why those issues are the top priority.
