I never understood why so many non-Catholic Christians didn't set up their own chain of schools a long time ago,(Clemenza)

Its not up to pastors to make that decision they are merely a part of the body like everyone else. People need to organize homeschooling groups within their churches..(N3WB13)

It’s time for the churches that profess to love children now put up or shut up and provide an opportunity to educate children in a place where Jesus would be welcome (kittymyrib )

There are several reasons ministers do not step up to organize schools:

The first and foremost reason is that they are not about to offend the many teachers, school employees, and those who work for business that directly or indirectly get money from the schools. (For example: Even my dentist depends on school dental insurance for a living.)

If ministers are not opening schools for this reason, they I call them "Sell-Outs!" and "hypocrites"!

Another reason is that too many ministers are incapable of thinking "outside" the box. In their mind "school" means a brick and mortar institution. This means tons and tons of regulations, zoning, health and fire codes, employee withholding taxes, disability insurances,,etc. Believe me! I sympathize with these guys. They are already busy enough!

So...I am in sympathy with Stefanbatory and N3WBI3. If the pastors of these churches are fully occupied with spreading the gospels that is just about all they have time to do, and is ultimately their most important job.

N3WBI3, we should educate our ministers on the existence of virtual schools, homeschool cooperatives, mini-schools, one room school houses, dame schools,,,,etc. All of which would mean little in the way of administration by the minister. BUT,,,The minister SHOULD step up and take the lead. Isn't that the whole meaning of the word "pastor"?

If pastors still refuse to lead, then individual Christians must do this themselves, as N3WBI3 has suggested.

As a graduate of Villanova University I urge all parents to be careful about choosing a Catholic school. My university was full to the brim with Marxist Liberation Theologists!

I would say its the elder ship who needs to be educated about these options preaching is a terribly hard thing to do and to as much a degree as possible the day to day operations of the church should be taken out of his hands.

I know there are small churches where thats not an option but as much as possible the job of organizing and training up the body to be self sufficient in manners outside of doctrine should be the job of the board/eldership..

A body of 5-6 home schooling families within a church is a wonderful seed and can greatly help each other and the congregation as a whole.
