So here I was - taking my daughter to school this morning (She is a high school sophomore) and she was telling me of a discussion she and the other kids were having about Black History Month.
One kid suggested that - to be fair - there should be a White History Month. He was quickly chastised; "Whites don't deserve a special history month due to the racial prejudices they've committed over the years". My daughter related some of the "Rosa Parks" types of incidents as evidence of why there should be no White History Month.
It was early. I was driving and had not yet had my first cup of coffee. And so I was speechless.

No, what we need is an Irish American History Month, Scottish American History Month, British American History Month, Lithuanian American History month - etc!!!

Black History month is a pile of pandering crock. It should be eliminated - just like Martin Luther King Day should be eliminated as a Federal Holiday.
Like Teddy Roosevelt said, there should be no room for hyphenated Americans and that includes people who consider themselves black-Americans instead of merely “Americans.”
This is a perfect example of the kind of politically correct tripe the idiots who run our schools pour into impressionable young minds - and probably one of the reasons we have an Islamophilic, Socialist Nitwit sitting in the White House - his “qualifications” as the first “Black” American President trumped his total inadequacy for office in the minds of so many impressionable young boobs still in the hands of the Educational Establishment and yet able to vote - thank you Mr. Nixon.

Of course not. Because to include those whites would admit that whites and black fundamentally have the same goals, although that perspective is beginning to make me wonder too.
That would require giving up the concept of racial identity which is for some people the only way they belong to anything.
I will admit....I am prejudice. But that does not make me racist. I can’t help how I have come to view certain peoples. It is only through experience with them, that I have come to feel this way. Nothing I was taught. Just real life, day to day experiences. And by God, it sickens me more every day.

Fifty percent of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were Welsh...as was the captain of the Mayflower. William Penn (founder of Pennsylvania) and Thomas Jefferson. Nine Presidents of the USA were of Welsh descent. You can real more details here.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was initially formed from Welsh immigrants from the village of Merthyr Tydfil. Singing harmony in parts as they descended into the coal mines to work was part of their heritage. The choir leader has always been of Welsh descent.
My family arrived in America via the Mayflower and early Jamestown settlers. There's plenty of history there. We don't have to invent a "month" to celebrate a racially focused view of history. Our legacy is the USA.
They ALL are - those individuals who consider themselves “ethnic” Americans instead of just plain old ordinary Americans, homos, atheists, tree huggers, third worlder lovers, etc. etc.
