Is this some type of leftist reaction to this document? Double check your source if you are convinced by the misinformation. Are they going to rewrite independence date of an entire nation of people? Maybe no one there will remember? Your own link admits that Kenya wasn't a republic until a full year after independence, confirming what Jveritas said. Guess you owe him an apology for calling him a troll.

Encarta has him taking the title of president, along with the forming of the republic, in December, 1964, as you’ve suggested. Yet is it possible that he won the key votes, while as prime minister, in 1964 to establish such?
