A teacher convicted of sexually assaulting one of his students had an odd request for the judge at his sentencing Thursday.
Adam Friedman, 46, offered to be castrated in an effort to avoid prison time.

The “sickness” is not that. Very few sexual predators will admit to the “sickness,” and even fewer will accept counseling, either in prison, or out.
Why? Because there is “nothing wrong” with them. The key word here is “denial.”
Sexual offenders will never be rehabilitated and therefore, should never be released, once they are incarcerated.
I doubt that castration is an answer.

Exactly. Compromise by offering him the opportunity to avoid jail by being beheaded.
There is so much molesting going on in schools here in Las Vegas, it isn’t funny. Almost every week we have news of another teacher abusing a student in some way. Most recently, a “17 year-old who had the hots for one of his teachers and acted on it.”
Las Vegas has been working hard to update the laws and weed out the offenders before they have a chance to fly under the radar. It used to be that other states would slap the hands of the offenders and send them packing...to NV....

You know, I’ve heard this discussion before as to whether castration will cure a rapist. I honestly don’t know. I do remember reading a story somewhere about a molester in prison who got so tired of having those urges that he sliced off his testicles with a razor blade and flushed them down the toilet in his cell. Guy claimed that he didn’t have any urges towards children anymore.
Regardless of whether it works or not, no judge would honor such a request anyway because they don’t want to get into the legal mess of whether it would violate the Constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment.
I think that prison time is still necessary in these cases, castration or not.

Not really. Most end up in protective custody.
When a female teacher who has sex with a 15 year old goes to jail how does she get treated by the other inmates? I have to wonder?
In a male prison he would be treated like crap, but society views that differently.
Yes both are a crime, however when a woman does it to a boy most, esp the men think “the boy got some, he is a man now”. So how do the female inmates treat her? Now if she was Susan Smith and murdered her babies she is toast. But making a boy a man? I have to wonder.
It’s not even funny, in jest. It’s immature and idiotic. They make us all look like morons. God forbid Bill O’Reilly should ever happen upon one of those threads.

I guess society views it different because woman-boy sex doesn’t involve any penetration of virgin parts and because most boys that age will very happily consent. And when you have a teacher that looks like Debra Lafave, well you get the picture.
