Despite a good faith effort, I can't find information on Canada's military budget. A Canadian is claimimg that Canada "used to spend one third of their budget on the military" but wised up and near Utopia came to pass. It is very hard for ne to believe that they spent that much at any time except maybe in the throes of WWII.
Does anyone have a reliable link, preferably with a clear chart? Thanks so much for any help!

You don’t need to research this much. One third of the budget on the military? Not since 1944. Maybe 1945. Guaranteed.
Today, Canada spends 1.5% of GDP, the US spends 4.7%.
not even close...ax Rosey the Riviter what America spent in WW dos
Your welcome. Sorry for being your best neighbor and closest ally.
You lost me.
Canada doesn’t need to spend very much because we are under America’s wing and protection.
If you guys would put yourselves under the military protection of Mexico, you could do the same thing and solve your budget crisis for good.
Geez. Don’t piss off the Canadians. One Canadian Captain told me, “We came down once and burned down your White House! Don’t make us have to do it again!” They also play this game where they have two guys on the opposite side of a street with a length of toilet paper stretched across the road and tucked into their, well, behind. They light the toilet paper on fire in the middle and the winner is the first guy to drink a beer and then scoot across the ground to put out the toilet paper. They do this on gravel roads.
Never heard of that one. I think you are making it up.
your quote that America spent 12.5 % of GDP in WW11 is way off...........WAY OFF
Thanks much, everyone. I did find the links and info posted, and tons more. What I thought was simple. i.e., % of Budget, vs. total dollars or % of GDP, has eluded me. I also found this link, but it is not sourced, so not reliable.
That was the second greatest thing we 'Canadians' ever did. The greatest was the time-machine we invented in 1867 after we became 'Canada.' We flew back in time as 'Canadians' to burn down the WH in 1812.
If you ask nicely, we lend the time-machine out periodically.
I thought it was Alain Vigneault resurrecting the lowly
Canucks to nearly clinch the Presidents Trophy.
I had to Bing Alain Vigneault. I don’t follow hockey.
They called it “THE FLAMING A—HOLE GAME”. Unicorns don’t make stuff up.
