Funny, you say it is a strawman to bring up 'keep electing career politicians' yet you then you want someone with history "in elective office".

I made the distinction between career politicians and someone who has served in some capacity in elective office up thread. It's up to you to figure it out.

As for business experience, I'll argue it is exactly what we need. Business is accountable to keep their books in order, politicians aren't. Business is accountable to show results. Politicians aren't. Business succeed when they reduce expenses, maximize profits, and turn around successful products. Politicians are exactly opposite. The business model of government is to maximize expenses, have negative profits, and are rewarded when what they are selling fails.

All true to some degree. But businesses only affect a certain group of people. Politicians answer to everyone. A guy like Cain cannot sell limited government and less spending to Congress & the people than say a Sarah Palin. He'll get eaten alive by the Democrats and liberal media and will be forced to compromise.

I go back to the definition of insanity because that is exactly what I'm seeing.

Well, let's just run anyone off the street for Presidency. My post also applies to Donald Trump as well. People don't support businessmen for President without having served in public office first. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

I do see your Paultard roots are showing though. Tear down whomever isn't your preferred choice. What I see with most Cain supporters is they would be happy also with a Palin, Bachmann, West or many others and don't tear them down.

Not tearing down anyone. I'm just stating that Cain will split the conservative vote and we get a RINO for the nominee.

The difference is Trump isn't a Conservative and has so much liberal and other baggage, he wouldn't win anyone other than maybe that "No Labels" swishy group. Cain would win Conservatives and could successfully sell the Conservative message to liberals.

Acccording to what I just heard on the radio, with the Huckster and Trump declining, about a 1/3 of the Repub vote is up for grabs.

Time for a true Conservative to step forward and all this bickering on OUR side to end.

I may agree with the lack of experience argument, but I strongly disagree with the above argument. Cain, in my opinion, is the person most likely to be able to sell the limited government argument to the American people. His rise to success from humble origins is the classic American success story. That kind of thing still resonates with a large number of Americans. He has the positive hopeful approach that Ronald Reagan had, while too many other conservatives come off as perpetually pissed off. He also combines the charismatic speaking ability of a Baptist preacher and a down to earth style with a sharp intellect. After having his formal training in Mathematics and Computer Science, he moved into the less technical area of food service management. This shows a great deal of flexibility. I would like to see him run even if it is simply to inject his can do spirit and optimism into the primary debates.
