Two U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientists were named as recipients of the 2011 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). The award, is being given to EPAs
Dr. Mehdi Hazai and Mr. Adam Eisele, (and 96 others) as the highest (0nly) honor in the early stages of "independent" research.
"Early" EPA Career Mr. Eisele developed and used air sampling to identify and characterize local sources of air pollution in (1 to 2 mile high community elevations). His research is being used to identify community health risks due to... oil and gas production sources.
"Early" Career Dr. (EPA ?) Career Dr. Hazari was nominated for demonstrating how inhalation of low levels of air pollutants like ozone could increase susceptibility to heart attacks. Final selection criterion remains, unspecified.
The purpose of the award is to encourage the development of science leaders....
