St. Louis County Police said more than 50 Muslims graduated this week from the course that began in November at the Daar-ul-Islam Mosque. This Citizens Police Academy training is specifically tailored to members of area mosques, police stated.

This same course is presented to community groups of every stripe to do exactly what is said in the article: in-depth education on how the PD works in that community. I’m a member of a volunteer group that is chartered by the city where I live that supports police operations during community events. This often involves traffic control during parades and local festivals. The primary purpose is to free up officers for actual police work yet to have extra eyes in place to ensure safety for those at the events.
The training we receive is of a general nature with one firm understanding: we are not police officers and cannot present ourselves as one. We are unarmed and unpaid. There is supposed to be an actual Citizen’s Police Academy course taught to the group this summer. Funding has been an issue.
The article starts out with an uninformed and alarmist viewpoint while later giving the details that shows this to be nothing more than is presented to other community groups. The comments at the bottom of the article and on FR reflect poorly on most of the writers. I am not a Muslim but I find this to be akin to yellow journalism and base agitprop.

Oh geez, that’s right! Muslims hate dogs, especially large black dogs. So now there are Muslim cops who will be even more likely to kill someone’s family pet.
These will be the new enforcers of the sharia law under which all the Muslim neighborhoods will be accountable to. Just like in the UK brothers and sisters.
