Court Rules School Bus Driver Who Failed Drug Test Should Get Job Back
Mental Recession ^ | 02/13/2013

The driver on the bus goes puff, puff, puff…

How comfortable are you with a marijuana smoking bus driver bringing your kids to school? Students at a school in upstate New York are being forced to deal with it.

Cynthia DiDomenicantonio, a bus driver for the Shenendehowa School District in Clifton Park, was fired from her job for failing a drug test.

An Appeals Court however, decided the firing was “too severe a punishment”, and have ordered the school to reinstate DiDomenicantonio.

This is sick. Typical liberal garbage.

I will say, however, that when I used to smoke pot, if I drove, it took twice as long to get there, as I drove 5 - 10 UNDER the speed limit.

This woman would likely be fired for taking too long to get the kids to and from school, but then again, if I was busing around a bunch of brats from this latest generational batch of liberal crap, I’d probably be smoking pot too.

Manufactured scandal:

“The Court of Appeals ruling supported the conclusion of an arbitrator [...]

“The arbitrator — who became involved after the bus drivers union, the Civil Service Employees Association, challenged the firing — found the dismissal violated the collective bargaining agreement.

“The arbitrator ordered DiDomenicantonio reinstated — minus six months of back pay, follow-up drug testing and substance-abuse counseling.”

Not to mention that failing a pot test means only that she smoked sometime in the previous few weeks - NOT that she was stoned while on the job.

I have a family member who worked a temp job at the local transit authority, handling personnel records of drivers (which included their drug test results).

Let’s just say, board a city bus around here....and your odds are about 50-50.

Hmmm.... article doesn’t say if the driver was stoned during the time she was driving. If pot is legal in Cali and she only smoked at home after hours, a drug test would still show THC in her system, but not if she was “high” on the job. Then again, she may have been tested because she “looked or acted” stoned OTJ. This is the proper way to keep employees from being drunk or stoned OTJ.

One place the Republicans could have advocated something meaningful was in the area of school vouchers. It even satisfies the class warfare zealots.

But they never did, and probably never will.

For supposedly being professionals, these party bosses sure are amateurs.

I am donning my asbestos suit prior to my reply.

I personally don’t want anyone driving while having drugs including alcohol, pot, uppers, downers or anything that impairs their judgement in their bloodstream especially while driving a very large vehicle with children on-board.

If it can be proven that they have a drug in their system and cannot prove that it isn’t influencing their ability to safely do their job then they are released from employment. It is real simple ...... a no drug policy is a no drug policy. Go find a job where the employer doesn’t care if you are toked up, drunk or drugged.

If it can be proven that they have a drug in their system

Pot tests don't test for any active ingredients of pot, but only for inactive metabolic byproducts - which can remain in one's system for weeks.
