Not much news is coming out of the world of cold fusion besides the announcement that Hydro Fusion would like to have a utility test Andrea Rossi’s ecat low energy nuclear reaction or (LENR) device in Sweden. Rossi’s publication of limited ecat test results has spurred a lot of controversy and reaction but what are his various competitors up to?

I looked around the web and found that Brillouin, Defkalion, and Nichenergy haven’t made any new announcements lately. None of these companies seem to have the level of progress Andrea Rossi has or at least haven’t announced it.
New LENR Network in Operation
Kressen Ltd which is working to commercialize Francessco Celani’s LENR process has entered into a partnership with an organization called LENR Cities. This seems to be an effort to create an open sourced community dedicated to commercializing LENR on the web. The idea is to network as many LENR investors and innovators as possible to create LENR technologies. It also works with a sensor company called Smart and Secure Way that’s creating next generation monitoring and control systems that would work over the cloud.
This effort is interesting although it seems to duplicate some of the work of the Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project which is working to commercialize and improve Celani’s LENR cell. The Fleischmann Project has expanded its efforts to include a second LENR process based on the work of Japanese chemist Dr. Tadahiko Mizuno. Efforts sponsored by French scientists Jean-Paul Biberian and Pierre Clauzon are being to build a Mizuno cell and start testing it. Clauzon and Biberian will be conducting the tests in France. Results will be posted on the Fleischmann Project’s website. The site’s posts indicate that testing on the Mizuno cell is about to begin.
The Hunt Utilities Group or HUG which is building and testing a Celani cell in Minnesota has added two interns to its team. HUG’s research is also designed at creating a commercially viable energy source based on Celani’s Nickel and Hydrogen LENR cell.
From the posts on the Fleischmann Project blog it sounds as if the HUG team wants to demonstrate their version of a Celani Cell at the International Conference on Cold Fusion or ICCF which is scheduled for July 21-27 at the University of Missouri at Columbia. Last year’s ICCF in Korea featured a Celani cell. Defkalion has also promised to demonstrate a device there.
Big Names at ICCF
LENR devices won’t be the only exciting aspects to the ICCF. The keynote speakers should provide some interesting food for thought.
The big name scheduled to attend is Dr. James Truchard the CEO of National Instruments. Dr. T has long been an unspoken proponent of LENR. The other speaker is Dr. David A. Kidwell of the Naval Research Laboratory. His presence at ICCF seems to indicate that the US Navy is still involved in LENR research. Kidwell’s expertise includes the creation of instruments and software for the study of LENR.

His online biography indicates that Kidwell’s devices have detected results in LENR processes that cannot be explained by conventional chemistry. Kidwell is a real genius who holds 17 patents, and has published over 80 technical papers.
It sounds like it’s going to be an exciting summer for LENR hopefully we’ll get more big news from Rossi and his competitors. One has to wonder what other surprises we’re about to get as ICCF approaches.

Forbes Covers Hydro Fusion’s Offer of Free E-Cat Plant

Mark Gibbs of Forbes.com continues to cover recent E-Cat developments in a new article titled “Psstt! Want An E-Cat LENR Generator? For Free?”
The article covers the recent offer by Hydro Fusion of a free 1 MW low temperature E-Cat plant which has been discussed here, but Gibbs notes a new footnote that has been added recently to the Jun 10 press release which states:
As the funding comes with particular restrictions, Hydro Fusion is unable to consider offers from outside of Sweden. Thank you for those offers already made from around the world.
I think this a significant addendum since it implies that Hydro Fusion is working with an outside funder (probably Swedish) which possibly will be the recipient of any funds that the final customer will be paying for the heat produced by the E-Cat — which is part of the deal.
According to Andrea Rossi on June 12th, the customer may already have been chosen:
The Swedish formula depends on the Licensees, not from us. Leonardo Corp sells the 1 MW plants, and the owners of the plants can use them the way they prefer: if they want to invest in a plant to sell energy, they can do it. We just make a due diligence on the final Customer who buys the energy, before accepting the solution. Our Swedish licensee has proposed to us a Customer we like, therefore they are free to buy a plant to put it in the concern of their Customer and sell the energy. We gave them green light, but this is an initiative of theirs, not of ours.
Mark Gibbs asks in the article for applicants for the plant to contact him. My guess is that anyone who is going through the application process, and especially the chosen applicant will be keeping a low profile until the project is completed, and people start showing up to see it in action.

No, I haven’t. Until recently, I thought the best explanation was the Bose-Einstein Condensate theory of Dr. Kim.

Znidarsic is interesting. My basic approach is that the answer will be a combination and borrowing of elements of K.P. Sinha/Y.E. Kim/ Ed Storms/ Pons-Fleischmann/ ultra-low-momentum Widom-Larsen/ proton capture/Rossi or whoever....

Any news/rumors concerning the identy of the recipient of the first Rossi 1MW plant? Also, about the resulting tests or usages for the 1MW plant?

At first glance someone might think none of this has anything to do with LENR, but here you have microminiature batteries using assembly techniques that will undoubtedly be used in some existing avenues of LENR research.
I think we've had earlier criticism by at least one moderator to the effect that all 'cold fusion' research was not meaningful because....... so you were lucky to have him not delete your threads.
Actually, as we move into smaller and smaller territory, we can begin to explain some of the LENR phenomena. We can also build our understanding of all things 'microminiature' and that builds our understanding of what NSA is really up to, and why drones are getting smaller and more effective, and why surveillance might well be the least worrisome part of that piece of technology.
May 8 was the last day we had any news on University of Illinois super fast charge/discharge microminiature battery design. This might be the last day we get any news about sand grain sized 'batteries' once one of the guys at NSA sticks these two ideas together.
