Special Immigrant Visas legislation passes House, becomes law On Wednesday, October 2, the House passed legislation co-introduced by Rep. Kinzinger to provide special visas for Iraqi translators who risked their lives during the Iraqi war to assist American troops. With an estimated 2,000 visas remaining unprocessed, the bill, H.R. 3233, extends the Special Immigrant Visa Program for Iraqi interpreters, contractors, and others who aided the US effort. H.R. 3233 passed the Senate by voice vote and was signed into law on October 4, 2013.

Just like the Hmong tribesmen in Vietnam, if they helped us we have an obligation to help them. Otherwise they’re all Dead Men Walking.

Not the fault of either group that they signed-up to help us win, only to have Democrats pull the rug out from under them.

Uh, they risked their lives being translators for our soldiers. And now are still at risk.

I think they have earned the right to come over here.

One couple of my great-grandparents immigrated here in the 1880s from Germany. When his son went to fight for the U.S.A. in WWI, he disinherited his son, my grandfather, for fighting against the Fatherland.

The old man was dead by the time WWII started. My ethnic German relatives, to a man, fought for the U.S.A. in WWII. So you can never tell what the future will bring. Many of those Iraquis may, in fact, be Christian and have every desire to be anywhere but the Middle East.

Do I have a Magic Ball (I’m assuming you mean Crystal Ball)?

No, but I do know about human nature and my nation’s history. The majority of immigrants who do not like it here, generally around 40%, return to their nation of origin within a few years. Those that remain in the U.S.A., the majority have children and grandchildren who become solid citizens.

Mexicans are an exception. What can one say about a neighboring country that allowed the Soviet Union to finance and build ‘hate museums’ aimed at the U.S.A.? I don’t want them here as illegal aliens or immigrants.
