I want to thank Claremont for the opportunity to reply to Michael Anton’s review of my book Bronze Age Mindset. Since at least 2015—but in fact from before Trump ever came along—there has been a tremendous intellectual disturbance or ferment online...that has escaped the notice or surveillance of the mainstream media, the literary and pundit-political establishment, and all those who imagine themselves gatekeepers of public taste and opinion. Trump’s campaign beginning in 2015 brought this countercultural phenomenon to view of the authorities, who have been struggling to understand it and contain it ever since.
What are the “crazy Pepe frog people” online all about? The terms “altright” and “altleft” have been designed as catch-all categories to describe what is going on, but they’re misleading. There have been a few inadequate attempts to understand this phenomenon before Anton’s article: for example Angela Nagle’s book Kill All Normies, or a few articles by lesser-known journalists. But Anton’s review of my book is the first big attempt, as far as I’m aware, to really try to understand what’s going on from a sympathetic point of view; which is to say, non-polemically and without the ulterior intention of getting us censored or of bringing the weight of the national security establishment on our backs. I think Anton, whatever our disagreements—and they seem to be considerable—must be praised for realizing that the phenomenon in question isn’t going away and cannot simply be suppressed, but must be understood.
What you are witnessing, I would like to tell the readers of Claremont, is the unraveling of the postwar American regime—or what is mendaciously called by its toadies the “liberal world order”—in a way that is far more thorough than the disturbances of the 1960’s, and with consequences that will be far more dire.

THE issue in America is REINSTATING THE CONSTITUTION AS THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND.
THAT would mean dismantling 80%+ of the Totalitarian Federal Government in recovering our Free Constitutional Republic (codified DECENTRALIZED power as a matter of law).
Only with the help of the Divine Providence of God Almighty will we, as did our Founders of old, be able to overcome the enemy (The Left, entrenched in the $4 trillion Federal Government (the “Swamp”, the “Deep State”)) and win.
We should always keep in mind something Solzhenitsyn said post-1917. He said they thought they knew who the good guys and the bad guys were. They realized after the fact they were wrong.

If we listen to the rhetoric of the left, we can only guess that further restrictions of speech and life, both de facto and de jure, are coming. What is the conservative plan to deal with any of this? The “youth”—but not only the youth, and certainly not only the white youth, although they are the most affected—has seen only capitulation from the conservative establishment, or otherwise outright collaboration.
How often have we heard this complaint on FR? The appellation "CTRL-Left" was well given, and totalitarianism has sprouted there like mushrooms after a rain. But there is a "CTRL-Right" as well, our GOPe, our establishment, and they like Trump (among other outliers) just as little as their Stalinist counterparts do. These are Orwell's pigs who walk on two legs, and we'd best not look that direction for liberation.
The author points out that it isn't entirely generational - quite a lot of us old farts got Pepe long before the Kool Kidz on the Left, who never will. It is, however, raging on the Internet, looking strangely familiar underneath because it is about freedom versus control as it has been long before the Bronze Age, when the Internet consisted of clay tablets fired in the ruins of the buildings that burned down around them. The ending was frequently not a happy one but somehow, freedom survives.

We cannot coexist with psychopaths. And there WILL be a break point and a reckoning.
Pretty simple equation: when you continually mess with a people motivated and determined to defend their freedom and their way of life, don’t be surprised when the outcome isn’t pretty.
The left needs to understand that.

True - but it would be better if we didn't let things escalate until they reached the "breaking-point" and we "go nuclear."
A little more fortitude and resistance now is in order.

Interesting piece.
It seems the author counts himself in a large group of disaffected people, mostly youth. The only thing these people appear to have in common with each other is opposition to the present regime. It is a loose alliance of strange bedfellows. What they would put in place of the current regime is not defined, because, if it were, they would be fighting among themselves.
I understand the aggravation with the current insanity of the Left and the anti-Trump right. But once the dogs of war (or revolution) are released, there is no telling what subset of the revolutionary forces will prevail.
I know the author has not discussed revolution, but where else does he think this pent-up rage is heading?
I think it’s wounded but it’s not dead yet. It still controls the media, education system and Hollywood. Even with all they control they are still losing because they are enormous losers. They are basically destroying themselves with their stupid actions and words. We could put a spike through its black heart if we can stop them from poisoning the minds of young people.
