Luckily the staff acted quickly to save the hedgehog that was clearly far from home
A hedgehog has been saved by holiday park staff in what could be the most adorable rescue we've ever seen.
Captured on video doing a little 'doggy paddle' swim in the pool, the hedgehog can be seen gliding around the deep end at Hendra Holiday Park, Newquay.
After a few moments, pool lifeguard Lorraine rescues it with a net after it struggled to find its way back out. The caption of the video said, “Lifeguard Lorraine has had to make her first pool rescue of the season!"
Brad Flowerdew, who works at the venue's popular Oasis Pool, was the one who spotted the hedgehog but it's not clear how long it may have been stuck for.
While doing his morning checks he spotted "a something" swimming in the pool, then on closer inspection he saw that it was a hedgehog.

He then informed Lorraine Reed who brought a net to the rescue.
A spokesperson for Hendra Holiday Park said: "The hedgehog must have fallen in and hadn’t spotted the shallow end of the pool that contains a ramp which he could have used to get out again.
"Luckily Lorraine and Brad were able to swiftly remove him from the pool."
Hedgehogs by nature are nocturnal, which means they shouldn't really be seen out in daylight hours and the staff at Hendra Holiday Park have got it the help it needs before it went on its way.
The video spurred some lovely reactions from people with Lynn Shaw saying "he was enjoying a swim whilst it's quiet."

This morning, the tiniest rabbit you can imagine came up to the pond and after a second hopped right in! I thought he was going to drown and was ready to go rescue him, but he swam across the pond, hopped out, and went about his business like nothing happened.
It’s Norman the ‘edgehog!
Why did the rabbit cross the pond?
He heard Jimmy Carter was on the other side.
Squirrels and Chipmunks sometimes fall into pools and drown because they are unable to escape. Hanging a couple of short lengths of large diameter rope into the water gives them a way to climb out.
