Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.-N.Y.) sent out a tweet on Friday stating that gas stoves are helping to cause climate change.

“Gas prices are high,” Schumer said in his tweet.

“Gas stoves can increase asthma risk,” he said.

“Gas stoves contribute to climate change,” he said.

“The Inflation Reduction Act can help with all this—but only if you choose to take advantage of it,” Schumer said.

Schumer—who was a sponsor of the Inflation Reduction Act that President Biden signed last year and that subsidizes the purchase of electric stoves—began his tweet with this message: “@ENERGY’s debunked the desperate MAGA idea that Dems are coming for your gas stove.” …

Spoiler alert: Schumer does not care how stupid he sounds. The issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution. The only reason to ban gas stoves is to show it can be done. Ban gas stoves today, ban meat tomorrow, ban guns on Thursday, ban all counter-revolutionaries before the weekend.

Ok. How? Meaning by what effect or action?

Simply stating a preposterous idea is not a “proof” in any sense. (For anyone with an actual brain...)

The main reason for banning gas stoves is that they can turn off your ability to cook from 1,000 miles away, if you’re a non-compliant citizen. With a gas stove, a technician has to show up on site to shut off your gas.

True enough for the "climate radicals". I'm inclined to think that he's just pandering to them, since they're an important part of the coalition that keeps Democrats in power. Skill at doublespeak is a key asset for pols like him.

Chuck Schumer repeating blather and claptrap. A defective gas stove MIGHHT emit a small amount of methane, but that gas is quickly dispersed in the overall mix of the atmosphere, and being lighter than most other of the gases composing the air of Earth, rises quickly to the upper reaches of the sky, and escapes from earth altogether. That is, unless the actions of the rays of the sun cause the methane to react with oxygen or ozone (the “ozone layer”, remember?), turning it into one molecule of carbon dioxide and two molecules of water vapor.

Otherwise, the combustion of the major constituent of natural gas takes place at the burner, producing a mixture of carbon dioxide and water vapor. And heat.

The heat produced is the most important part of the combustion of natural gas. Heat cooks our food quickly and boils water, heat also warms the temperature of the room where the combustion takes place, and heat contributes to the health and well-being of everybody in the house. And heat from a gas flame is eminently easily controllable.

All virtues, nearly as I can tell.
