New York has a truly asinine law on the books: It’s illegal to ship pepper spray here. But it’s not illegal to own it or use it in certain cases of self-defense.
I’m calling on lawmakers, as well as Mayor Adams and Gov. Hochul: It’s time to give constituents easy access to basic self-defense.
I know it first hand as a young woman living in Manhattan. Last May, I wrote about an encounter with a menacing man who chased and threatened me. I managed to scare him off by brandishing my sparkly pepper-spray keychain — which I had to purchase in New Jersey.

In 2023, New Yorkers can get just about anything delivered to their doors via Amazon — including axes and some seriously sharp Japanese knives. Even machetes can be ordered with next-day delivery.

Most pepper sprays people end up buying will only piss the bad guy off.
You can buy it at Walmart or Dick’s sporting goods.
Protect yourself, because nobody else can or will.
Conceal Carry and don't go places where you may be detected.
"Concealed" means Concealed!
Get meaningful training and then practice, practice, practice.
It's amazing how much effective training you can do without firing a shot.
But, can’t buy it legally... you’ll have to steal it.
And, when you steal it, make sure and don’t steal over $999 worth, or you can be prosecuted for shoplifting.
NYC politicians may as well use that old grim humor poster advice for a nuclear war adapted to confronting the violent criminals:

Right you are, especially the junk they sell in store check-out lines.
Fox and Sabre are police-grade. Both are available on Amazon. That’s the way to go.
It’s worth noting that some states have canister size restrictions. So always do a bit of research first.
Take.a small spray bottle you buy at Dollar Tree. Fill it mostly with water. Ad about a table spoon of ammonia and a few drops of dishwashing soap. Set to mist. This gives about 3 feet of range and will blind any attacker not wearing a face shield. If the cops ask, it is just soap.
Pepper spray would upset the Democrat voter base.
Rikki, let me explain to you the concept of a business idea. You see you just found out there’s an invisible line, on one side of that line are people who want a product that can’t be sold to them. On the other side of the line you can sell that product. Oh and you’ll have lower taxes cause you’re on the other side of the line. Instead of trying to get the government to change something they probably won’t rent a building, get supplies, $$$

Alternative, and avail at hardware store. Wasp and hornet spray.

If it is illegal for the citizens to buy, then it should be illegal for private security too, including that of celebrities and the Governor/Mayor etc.
There should be one set of laws for everyone. How did we get away from this most basic tenet?

...or buy it on the street from your local entrepreneur..who probably stole it.
