Why didn't the police than determine his immigration status take the weapon and have him deported?
Are police in Texas prohibited from determining one's legal status? If so, can you please provide a source?
I would have no problem with police running the legal status of anyone they come into contact with doing something illegal.

Aside from the fact many large agencies are run by liberal chiefs who protect illegals, remember they won’t report crime if they fear deportation, local police do not have authority to enforce federal laws, nor do they have the ability to confirm immigration status. They have to call immigration officers, and they no longer enforce immigration laws so they won’t respond.
The local cops are left to clean the messes that DC creates.
