It’s lost as a city to people able to escape it - people who have the means to get the hell out - and live in decent cities.
But it’s not ‘lost’ to the folks who can’t get out - for them it’s the hellhole they’ll likely live the rest of their lives. The Memphis legal system enables criminals who prey on the black community - which is really sick. And that evil knocks down housing prices making escape harder.
This reeks of ‘George Soros’ style evil...

There are still wealthy people here but it’s getting worse by the day.
This 15 year old was killed not far from where I grew up.
Memphis was a happy place 50 years ago.
It’s held on better than many cities but we’re definitely circling the toilet bowl now.
