The Germans supplied rifles ands military supplies to the Irish during WWI to eventually kick out the English in the uprising. I don’t know if it was a payback not to get involved in WW2 or they felt no need to help the English against the Germans in the second round either. I suppose there’s history as to why, somewhere written and explained. Also, there were always Irish drafted into the British Army thru history....primarily for fodder. After all, they were Irish, and therefore, expendable.
They wanted England to lose. Gotta be suicidal. Did they think the Nazis woulda’ spared them? Seeing how Hitler turned against Poland and Russia.
