In Alabama the Libs may have cost us the governorship. They are still sorting out descrepancies and Riley (R) may prevail. But if he doesn't his defeat is at the hands of the spoiler libs. Libs only have one strategy and its flawed. They think if enough spoiled elections occur, Republicans will cave and adopt their extreme views. It's not gonna happen. Republicans are too busy trying to suck in votes from the middle where the real battleground is. Libs don't understand this math or don't care.

The Republican party has been rewarded for adopting Democrat core policies.

Is there any Republican on this board seriously willing to tell me that they will stop doing this?

If the measure of success is winning office then there is no way they will stop moving left. (The Parties have never done anything but move left since the Civil War)

"Were parties here divided merely by a greediness for office,...to take a part with either would be unworthy of a reasonable or moral man."

Libertarians believe in free will. Statists believe in forcing people to live their way, either in their personal or economic lives.

Ah, again we hear the old, tired, discredited 'free will' argument for criminals and perverts. What the Libertarians will never say is that voters have free will, too. Conservative politicans have free will. Policemen have free will. Prosecutors have free will. Judges and juries have free will. Bailiffs and jailers also have free will.

"Laws against bank robbery rob would-be robbers of their free will choice on whether to rob or not! Laws are satanic and turn people into zombies!"

"Restoring what our Founders intended", and "winning back the Libertarian voters" is exactly my intention here. Yes, there has to be some give and take; the GOP needs to (for a change) listen to Libertarian concerns. However, the Libertarians need to also give a bit. Let's work together to defeat the common enemy!

The premise of this article is that a Republican is entitled to this seat and a Libertarian has no place challenging the status quo.

That kind of arrogant attitude is so contemptuous and antithetical to the American spirit.

Quit whining. No one is entitled to an office. It has to be earned.

Excuse me, but did you READ the post? That is EXACTLY what it is all about; getting together to defeat the common enemy- the D/S party! Sure, there is some in-fighting going on; right now that's healthy - grips need to be aired before we can all get together and decide on a platform. IF we can that is!

Maybe if the GOP candidate had done something to, you know, inspire the support of the Ls

Yeah... That's the ticket! Lets all see if we can do something to make the Libs happy and get our total vote take down to 3%. Makes sense to me...

The title is correct. Libs support Socialist DemocRATs by "voting their conscience."

Now lets all get back to the LEGALIZE MARJUINA stance that does this country so much good. NOT!!!

I truly believe that if today's gop started acting like the "Gingrich" wing of the House from 1995, 90% of the (l) libertarians would RUN back with open arms and open wallets.

We'll see what direction is chosen. (the glass is 1/2 full)

No, we can't fully work out our diferences now. Sure the GOP has the House, and the White House, but let's see what the lawyers do with the Senate. In addition; the Left has the Press, the schools, the infrastructure, and the unions.

It will be a long battle; we need unity. We need to support each other. We need to defeat them and get our message out.

I feel for you. At least you get a recount though! We're done in WI; and McCallum was a fantastic Governor in the limited amount of time he had!

Bank robbery causes demonstrable harm to others, and therefore even libertarians would support laws against it. Peddle your straw men elsewhere.

There is now nothing preventing the President and congress from restoring our republic to what the Founders intended.

ROFLMAO! It's obvious you mean,"Nothing other than their own inclinations and beliefs.....".

Let's not forget that Sunnunu has already been on tv cheerleading for Bubba-2's proposed NEW bureaucracy called "The Office of Reich Security". While we're at it,let's not forget that Bubba-2 has never met a illegal alien he didn't love,or that he EXPANDED the Dept of Education, increased the number and power of federal and union workers, promised to spend BILLIONS to build houses for minorities, wants to create new instant citizens from illegal aliens, has promised to sign any gun control law congress sends him, etc, etc, etc.

Here in Florida, we had several State House and Senate seats where Democrats ran unopposed by Republicans, but there was a Libertarian opponent(there were a few where it was a Rep. vs. Lib, too). In most races, the Libertarian got 20% to 25%. Guess what? That means that in some cases, the refusal of Republicans to vote for a Libertarian, when there was NO Rep. running, put Democrats in the government.

You have the demographics for those districts?

If the Republicans cannot put up their own candidate, it seems likely that there really is no significant (greater than the 20-25% Libertarian vote anyway) Republican presence in that district anyway.

Yep, it is. Let's get this out in the open so we can form a coalition. But, let's not forget - this is an open forum - the bashing can go both ways. When it's all over we can (hopefully) realize that we have more in common than we do with the enemy; the D/S Party!

Your reasoning is just as flawed as the Dems blaming losses on the Greens. Let's face it, you don't win everybody's vote by triangulating the best. A candidate that doesn't demonstrate principles loses a lot of votes from principled people. Just as a pro-corporate Democrat isn't going to get votes from environmentalist voters, an antifederalist Republican (which should be, but unfortunately isn't, a contradiction in terms) isn't going to get the votes of libertarians.

The flawed assumption that you make is that people don't vote for their principles, they vote for pure political power. That's the same mistake the Democrats made that got them annihilated this election. Now that the bankruptcy of that philosophy has been proven at the ballot box, you want to drag the Republican Party down that route?

Principles will always win in the end. Godless power-worship will always lose. It's rather sad that you are so enamored of power that you need to place blame on a third party for a handful of GOP losses. As Jesse Ventura proved, it's believing in something that brings most voters out to the polls - supporting one corrupt candidate over another corrupt candidate doesn't.

For the record, I am a small-l libertarian and a small-r republican both. The two governing philosophies are 100% compatible, so don't blame us if your favorite candidate can't figure that out. You want this vote? Ranting and scapegoating won't get you it. You get more flies with honey, as they say, so bend over and kiss my libertarian ass.

Oh, and by the way... 1996 called, it wants its mindset back.

Please, NEVER refer to the Libertarian Party as the "Libs"; this causes confusion. When I use the abreviation "Libs" I am NOT refering to Libertarians, but rather "Liberals". Ok, maybe I should take my own advice here, and refrain from using that abreviation also - since now I know it causes confusion!
