In an e-mail to her family on Feb. 7, two weeks after her arrival in the Gaza Strip, Rachel Corrie wrote that "no amount of reading, attendance at conferences, documentary viewing . . . could have prepared me for the reality of the situation here."

I didn't call her my hero, if you read my initial comment you'd have seen I referred to her as an ideological dope.

I know you didn't... I did.

You called the Israeli bulldozer driver a "hero" as if he ran "Miss Genius" over on purpose.

Her death was her own fault as sad as it is.

That flag burning is disgusting.

When our troops are in danger, my patriotism is at its peak.

I have lost a lot of empathy for this misguided twit.

Corrie's friends remembered her Sunday as an inspired, courageous and responsible peace activist.

They left STUPID off the list.....Darwin award program drives some people crazy, I guess!

I guess she got what she wanted. I mean anyone who apparantly is this self loathing, carrying so much "white mans guilt" around...I mean they would have been quite miserable, right? So now she is released from that misery...I know I'm released from her misery!!

Yes I did, but in reply to someone who wanted to invite the driver to his house for a celebratory beer.

If the driver didn't know she was there, do you think he would be ready to celebrate over some beers?...I sure as hell don't think he would.

Looks like she did lots of ecstasy at the Burning Man.

My dad always told me "Never throw yourself in front of a juggernaught" and "It only takes one moment of stupidity to screw up your life forever"

What a shame and what a waste life without Jesus is.

She was in a war zone. Evergreen College must be recruiting
from the simple minded. having said this, blame her liberal mentors. Hey, even Monica Lewinsky attended Evergreen. Evergreen=Evernaive.

Here is what today's Opinion Journal -- a web page put forth by the Wall Street Journal -- says about this matter:

Rachel Corrie, a 23-year-old terrorism advocate from Olympia, Wash., died in a bulldozer accident yesterday. Corrie was at fault in the accident, which occurred when she either stood or crouched in front of an Israeli Defense Forces bulldozer in Gaza, the Jerusalem Post reports:

The bulldozers were part of an IDF tunnel- and mine-clearing operation. The Rafah refugee camp borders Egypt, from which Palestinian terrorists smuggle in weapons and explosives. And according to interim peace accords, Israel has the right to operate in and secure the area.

Corrie not only backed anti-Israeli terrorism; she also hated America. An Associated Press photo shows Corrie, her face contorted with hate, burning a "mock U.S. flag" at a pro-Saddam rally last month. (Hat tip: Little Green Footballs.) Reuters reports on a "symbolic funeral" that drew some 1,000 Palestinian Arabs. One of them tells the "news" service: "We fly a U.S. flag today to show our support to all American peace lovers, those like Rachel." If she were still alive, no doubt she'd have burned the flag.

It's a shame that Rachel Corrie died the way she did. It's shameful that she lived the way she did.

What a gentle, sweet, loving spirit she was. You can see it in her face.

Only two ways in the world to get a look like that on your face - either years of indoctrination into a communist/totalitarian mindset, or a botched hemorrhoid operation.

Rachel was sitting in the path of the bulldozer as it advanced towards her...

This incident really is a shame. She was at one point, an attractive young woman.

Her "friends" did what? ... other than to just stand there and watch?

Nobody tackled her to get her out of the way. Very "solidarity" of them.

There is not really any indication that she was "crushed."

She must have slipped off the edge of the ditch made by the bulldozer, as the bulldozer rumbled by in reverse; and some part(s) of the bulldozer knocked the life out of her.

When a bulldozer of that size, rolls over a body, such as a calf, the body is flattened into the ground ... and much worse. The pictures showed no signs of such injury.

God Bless her and the family.

The young lady was ideological dope, but running her over with a bulldozer is a bit sadistic IMHO.

I don't think there was anything sadistic about it.

And she was more than an ideological dope. She was a perfect example of how to waste a perfectly good human life -- her own.

Not only did she accomplish absolutely nothing with her extraordinary stupidity, but she has people laughing about her all over the world, bringing shame to herself and her family. And that's something that rarely happens when a person dies for a cause, no matter how disagreeable that cause may be.

In my opinion, she wins the 2003 Darwin Awards, hands down.
