Well, well, well. And yet another anti-Freeper site springs up:

http://www.freerepublicsucks.s5.com/crackdownmay2003.htm

We must be doing something right to have so many Bush haters hating us so much.

Well, we wish you luck. You'll have plenty of competition from FR haters.

Yes and it drives me crazy !

Part of it is a generation gap; the other is that there are too many CINOs here.

Thanks very much. I really appreciate your post. Back during the dark days of the Clinton years, if anyone would've asked me if I'd back a Bush Presidency they would've received an earful. Bush? Of all the conservative possibilities, he was probably my last choice. No one was more surprised than me when after the primaries I found myself supporting him. Why? The possiblity of Prince Albert Gore and four more years of Clintonite corruption, that's why. No thanks. Been there, done that.

Those were the dark days for me. With all the slime, filth and corruption from the top down, I had little faith in government. I was actually afraid that America was going to fail. Every day, and I mean every damned day there was another Democrat scandal. Our president and the top layers of his party were obviously and thoroughly corrupt. And not only corrupt, but treasonous as well. And as the press was apologetic and in full cover-up mode, and the Congress was ineffective and powerless and feared complicit, ie, the inept congressional hearings and failed impeachment trial, we were all shocked and fearing that the corruption was rampant in both major parties. At the time I was convinced that we had to throw them all out and elect all new blood.

Well, thankfully, I was wrong. George W. Bush has turned out to be a godsend. The difference between Bush and Clinton or Bush and Gore (or Hillary, Daschle, Lieberman or any other Democrat) has turned out to be like the difference between night and day or more to the point, the difference between good and evil. I now thank God every day that George Bush is our President and Commander-in-chief and that Bill Clinton and Al Gore are unemployed!

I sincerely believe that we are now on the correct path to cleaning up our government. Now all I want to do is make sure that Bush is reelected and that he maintains a conservative majority and not only that, but that he receives a loud and clear and unmistakable mandate from the voters that says he can override and overpower the filthy lying democrats and corrupt bureaucrats! And that he has a clear mandate to finally start replacing the liberal judiciary, and that they can start overturning and reversing some of the asinine and unconstitutional decisions and precedents set by the liberals, and that he can start tearing down the corrupt and out of control socialist federal bureaucracy and its unconstitutional welfare state. So help me God, I believe this is an opportunity and most likely our last opportunity to take back America before she slides down the final path to Gomorrah.

I believe in this with all my heart. The way I see it, it's now or never. A couple more terms of Clinton/Gore Democrat corruption and treason and America would belong to the ages. The dark ages. We'd be history.

She left. She continued to physically hang around for another year or so, but she was gone. Her heart was no longer with us or with our causes.

The Republican party grew as a result of those years. That is one of the few benefits I can see out of that morass.

Good post, Jim.

Could I ask for your feel towards the assault weapons ban renewal, and a stated policy and guidelines for RKBA, SAS, bang_list, and 2A defenders in general to use as a signpost as the issue comes to the political foreground in the coming months?

In the hypothetical that the GOP House and GWB cave and it is renewed? And also in the hypothetical that the House caves and GWB is left with the hot potato and must exercise a veto decision? Assuming Olympia Snowe et. al. will vote for renewal of course.

Will the admin mods be given the latitude to ban posters who have had a long stated "line in the sand" on 2A issues?

Where is the acceptable middle of the road for the Admins, and can something be done to prevent a RKBA purge during or immediately after the bills make the daily evening news cycles?

Shoot, I'd love nothing better than to have ALL of our Bush haters and assorted malcontents jump ship and join them over there. Might make things a lot more pleasant here.

Is FR preparing to purge the 2nd amendment malcontents if it comes to that during the election cycle?

The first rule of thumb is, don't believe anything printed in the Washington Post. The second is, don't believe anything put out by the third party smear and scare mongers. Both of the above would love nothing more than to cause a split in the conservative vote. The third rule is, this election is not going to be decided by the extremist third party vote on either side. And finally, it will be GWB in a landslide in '04!

No, they won't. Jim, you know full well that this latest "Anti-FReeper" Site will die on the vine, same as all the rest. Why? A very simple reason -- absent all the Politics, all the so-called "purges", and all the rancor between the "Anti-FReepers" and the so-called "Powers That Be", the fact remains that you and John Robinson have built the most responsive, user-friendly Public Debate Forum on the entire Net.

Be proud of your Son, whom you have trained well (he lost an HTML-hacking challenge against Lazamataz, of course, but everyone loses against Lazamataz). John Robinson kicks ass and takes names when it comes to running the mechanics of the "smartest, hardest-hitting political website on the Net." (as Don Morgan used to say -- remember him?)

But at the same time... if you will permit me to quote some Pantera, "Never forget... where you come from."

For the record, even though I was a passionate advocate of Steve Forbes in the Primaries (and YOU were an advocate of Alan Keyes, JR), I never actually accused Bush of being a "coke-head". Mainly because I would not have cared if he was.

Never snorted coke, and I don't care to -- but I've known a few Frat Boys who have, and they still managed to make something of themselves. That was my opinion of GW Bush -- I couldn't really care less if he snorted Coke, or Paint Fumes, when he was a young Kid partying at Yale; he was just insufficiently Conservative for my tastes.

Well, in GW's defense, 9-11 grew him up real fast. The Vietnam-AWOL Frat Boy showed up to the plate and did his job... God forbid that Al Gore woulda been our "Commander in Chief". Eee-gads.

But, if you will permit me to say so... so did FDR. The fact that FDR stepped up to the plate in World War II -- that does not confer God's Almighty Blessing on FDR's Welfare State, or FDR's "wink-wink-say-no-more!" acceptance of the Stalinist domination of christian Eastern Europe.

In short... though he opposed the Nazis, FDR still subverted the Republic at the same time. Virtue in one respect does not justify Vice in another.

The same is true of George W. Bush.

It ain't just "Defense" and "Homeland Security", either -- that's the Billion$ for the Bush-Kennedy "education bill", the Billion$ for the "farm bill", the Billion$ of "steel tariffs" (screw you, Detroit!), the Billion$ for "faith-based socialism", the Billion$ for "tripled foreign aid" -- the whole bag. Remember this -- every single Dollar taken out of a Taxpayer's pocket, is a Dollar which that Taxpayer might have spent to purchase better Health Insurance for his children. Federal Spending actually kills real human beings.

And even if Bush is taking care of business on the War Front -- the fact remains, he is spending like a drunken sailor on the Domestic Front. And that matters, because Federal Spending kills -- slowly but surely, one case at a time, but as deadly as any Terrorist.

And if you will permit me to sound like a bleeding-heart (or, perhaps, like "Jim Robinson 1999"), we are still fighting this useless Drug War, also. Which costs EVERY AMERICAN (Man, Woman, Child, and Infant) at least $200 dollars per year, every year. Close to $1,000 per-family, per-year... to accomplish NOTHING. Nothing except permanently destroying the Future Employability of 1 out of every 3 Black Kids who get stuck with a Criminal Record, while 1 out of every 3 White Kids (who smoke just as much marijuana) get off scot-free. Living in the suburbs, it's kinda "swept under the table" -- they're "just kids", ya know??

Meanwhile, as White Kids toke up in record numbers, we are still dumping millions of Black Kids into the American Prison System, an institution which practically borders on the Satanic. "It makes me physically ill when I hear a (so-called) 'conservative' crack jokes about drug-pushers being sent to jail where they will encounter homosexual rape and other horrors which make our prisons so disgustingly bad that we owe an apology to the Inquisition. ~~ Michael Pierce, "If Only The Fuhrer Knew". Mr. Peirce fought with the Rhodesian freedom fighters (the Ian Smith side, of course). http://www.lewrockwell.com/peirce/peirce63.html

I'm a Monthly Contributor to Free Republic, but you can Ban my paltry $10 bucks a month if you see fit. Because I like the Jim Robinson of 1999.

I won't begrudge George W. Bush his excellence in the War on Terror. The first duty of every American President is to defend his Citizens.

But that's not his only duty.

His duty is to the Constitution. And as far as that goes... I'm all about Free Republic 1999.

As always, JMHO.

Jim, I and others have tried and tried and tried to get that through to the people who think that President Bush is going to totalaly dismantle the 2nd Ammendment; but, they think it WILL happen.

Just as with the McCain-Feingold garbage was thrown out today ( which many of us said it would be and got told that no, Bush is horrid, etc. ),some here refuse to acknowledge that this president is any good at all.
