This would also point to your failure as a parent if your children were to be hitting the market for a drug purchase. If a child consumes alcohol prior to being 21 years of age, have their parents "failed"? Is GW or Laura Bush a "failure as a parent" becuse of their daughters' underage drinking? Are George and Barbara Bush failures as parents because of GW's alcohol abuse and DUI?
People make mistakes. Decent, moral good citizens have used marijuana and alcohol illegally. I say get off your high horse, Bill Bennett!

The term anti-government fanatics is not hyperbolic? Not if it is applied to anti-government fanatics.

"Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time!"
"The legally imposed "time" did not include being anally raped."
Either you are mistaken, or the news report is in error. Apparently, the "legally imposed time" did include being anally raped. Although, the Law did not intend for that to happen -it still happened.
It is unfortunate that young people buy into all of the lies that are perpetuated by the drug culture. A lot of lives are ruined as a result.

Five to one, the perp was black and the victim was white. Only 5 to 1? I'd place the odds more like 1 to 5.

Threads like this remind me of why I don't care when cops get killed in shootouts. Its all part and parcel of the criminal justice system.

He got JUST what he deserved (/Dane mode) Was just minding my own business going through the new "spin" of the pro-drug crowd Libertarians, and voila my name shows up, without a ping.
Typical Libertarian cowardice.
Since you decided to drag me into this, my opinion is that is that is a "hyped up" newspaper account(oh that's right newspapers never lie, look at that paragon of virtue called the New York Times) and the Alachua county jail is not that big and if the person in question had been "raped", the screams would have been heard and he would have been put into a differennt cell.
That's my opinion, but you all have fun flagellating yourselves over the "horrors" of jail. I will be waiting for you alls outrage when the kidnapper and molester of the 9 year old girlin California, screams rape while in jail.

I don't know who is worse, WoD supporters or the Nazi Hitlerites that they bear a resemblence to. Remember Hitler was against drugs as well.
Face it, there will always be a small percentage of our populace that wishes to burn their brains and escape reality. This has been happening for THOUSANDS of years. No amount of legislation, prison time or government sponsored executions will EVER END THIS.
Yes, a scum-sucking low life who sells drugs to your children should be punished, on scale with a gas station attendant that sells alcohol or cigarettes to minors. Nicotine is a drug, alcohol is a drug and there are REGULATIONS to control their availability to children. This whole "what about the children" crying and moaning that the pro-WoD'ers bellow to eloquently REEKS of liberalism and big government.

if I caught him "delivering" to one of my children, his encounter with Bubba would seem pleasurable by comparison. He very well could be one of your kid's best friends, and one that has eaten many a meal at your dinner table.

I didn't put words in anyones mouth, I just gleened from the posts what I wrote. The fact that they are crimes is the point, just because you think something shouldn't be is moot. This isn't Saudi Arabia, and the laws are not wish-washy. Tell me if you can, how many people really land in prison accidentally.

There, now that's correct.

Are you defending this low-life scum-sucking degenerate drug dealer who would sell drugs to my children? Please, wipe the spittle from your chin, Bobbie.. I don't think he was selling to your children.
An Alachua County college student in jail on marijuana charges was raped over the weekend by his cell mate, a man already being held on sexual battery charges, authorities said Monday.
From the article, I don't see anything that would indicate he was selling to children. More likely he was scoring for his college buddies in the dorms.
I don't know who's worse, drug dealers or those who defend them. It's real close.
For what it's worth, those who defend prison rape are worse.

You are comparing 'delivering' weed, to kidnapping and molostation? You can't expect to be taken seriously

I would venture to say that more lives have been ruined by
the Wod and it's enforcement, that the use of illegal drugs have ever caused.
Lies you speak of are/were perpetuated by our Gov't, and enforced by ill informed people such as yourself.

Well, if, by your moral standards that you tried to raise your children by was NO DRUGS and NO ALCOHOL[until you are 21] and that YOU SHALL OBEY THE LAW, then yes, they have partially failed as parents. However, I believe that at the age of 18, people should be allowed to purchase alcohol.
