This is my first post. I mean this in the most respectful way. I know some here will disagree with me, but I want to entertain an intelligent discussion.
1) Iraq - If he is being truthful about his motivations for being there, which I doubt, then you can scratch this one off the list. Now that we are there, we have to stay the course though. What is he thinking with trying to reallow Baathists into the Iraqi government? Doesn't this waste the lives of many Americans that fought bravely over there???? It makes us look desperate and weak to do this as well. Shameful. For the record, we were absolutely correct in going to Afghanistan, but I wish we stayed a little more focused over there. Our job over there was not done when we went to Iraq under what could easily be perceived the wrong way. Clinton blew it when he was offered Osama's head from Sudan and maybe Bush blew it when he stopped chasing Taliban/Al Qaeda as vehemently as he should have in Afghanistan.
2) OUTRAGEOUS deficit spending. One of my big priorites for the US is to get out of debt. We run a very big risk by continuing to spend money like this, especially while trimming revenues. There is no way we can remain at the top if we go too deep into debt - I think the USSR had a big problem with this and we all know what happened to them! Also, ask anyone who has ever gone BK. Many conservatives agree with this.
3) Christian Taliban/Faith based BS/John Ashcroft - I want nothing to do with religion and the state is supposed to do the same thing. As long as you are not a member of the religious right, there is a good chance you go along with me on this one if you are conservative. No offense if you are religious, but keep it to yourself. Someone else's beliefs should not impose on me in way shape or form. This is not Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia afterall. (It seems like third world countries are the ones that take religion very seriously because they do not stay focused on success - I like being first world, so let's stay here.)
4) Pandering to the Latin vote with his immigration policy. I am sure he is sacrificing what he believes in for votes on this one. Conservatives agree with me on this one.
5) Patriot Act. While some of the provisions are necessary(like info sharing between FBI/CIA), he goes too far. Personal liberties are what make this country great. A lot of conservatives agree with me on this one.
If it were not for these issues, I would not be so anti-Bush. I wish he were a little more eloquent too. He represents America when he speaks and if he sounds uneducated, then he makes all Americans look bad.
McCain is a far more honorable man from the GOP.
Kerry stinks too - what kind of choice is this? Don't even bring up Nader's name...(Sorry I did)
We've heard all the DU scripts here. You joined today just to repeat it all?
