Moon says that at age 15 Jesus appeared to him and asked him to complete his mission of salvation for mankind. He teaches that God's original plan was for the Israelites to unite with Jesus.
Jesus was called satanic, a blasphemer, his own family wondered if he'd lost his mind. Devout jews were outraged when Jesus said he was the Son of God. He told the people, in direct contradiction to the ten commandments, that if they honor their parents more than they honored him, they weren't qualified for the kingdom of heaven. This infuriated the believers at the time.
Moon teaches that throughout history God has sent prophets and saints to raise humanity back to the original position before the fall of man. Jesus was entirely different, though. Jesus was God's son, in other words, his blood descendant. This was a first in providential history.
Unfortunately, the people did not believe in him. Consequently he was seized by the Romans and executed. Jesus suffered and died willingly. But his death was not the original plan.
Jesus said things at the time that seemed to contradict the old testament. He was, in fact, the fulfillment of the Old Testament. I don't understand why people react with hostility when someone comes along with new ideas. Christians especially love to fight with one another. Why else would there be 1200 different denominations now? Even Islam isn't that fractured.
Rev. Moon said that it was never his intention to found a new religion. His goal has been to re-unite christianity and finish the work Jesus started. Ultimately, that is every Christian's mission.
