It IS remotely possible that Reeve did call and leave a message on kerry's voice mail before he was deathly ill and kerry didn't listen to it till Saturday.

But I'd like to know the truth of it all.

Yah there are a few of us willing to resist the impulse to look like a tinfoiler but we seem to be outnumbered on this thread. The call could have come late Friday or early Saturday. The timeline alone isn't enough to close this case but some folks got excited by the premise of this thread (which was erroneous) and now are playing at cyber-diagnostics to force the few facts we do know to fit the conclusion they want.

No, you're the one "forcing facts". The fact is that the article says that Kerry said he received a call from Reeve on Saturday. So far, all we have to go on are what the articles say.

If he had a serious systemic infection, he was running a high fever - 104 or higher. If he had this infection for a week, he would be lucky to be able to speak at all.

News of when he became substanially incapacitated will probably be uncovered.

And it won't have been Friday evening.

What you're saying is true. But, if Reeve went into a coma on Saturday (contradicting some published reports that it was Thursday), then it was a small window of time to get that phone call in, and it boggles my mind that the last thing he's thinking of is calling Kerry to thank him for bringing up SCR during the debate. Besides, if Kerry claims its true, that is the first indicator that there's something fishy going on!

This story in the Guardian (not exactly right-wing) http://www.guardian.co.uk/medicine/story/0,11381,1325223,00.html says he had sacral wounds since at least December and spent much of that month hospitalized.

We are going to find that his decline was prolonged, and that in the last of it, he was not chatting up politicians.

Except for the fact that Kerry said Reeve's thanked him for mentioning stem-cell research during Friday night's debate. It means that Reeves called Kerry after 10:30 Friday night when the debate was over, or he called him sometime during Saturday, but in either case I don't believe Reeves was in any kind of shape to be calling anyone. He had an infection in the blood stream which was probably staph. Many folks who are otherwise healthy, let alone someone who is paralyzed from the neck down, die from this condition, and Reeve's heart attack was caused by it because your body's systems start shutting down. You can put this down as more BS from sKerry.

The articles say that Kerry heard a message on his cell phone Saturday not that Kerry "received a call from Reeve on Saturday". Do you see the difference?

LOL Maybe he was and maybe he wasn't. Neither of us knows one way or the other but I admit it.

Some of you are reminding me of Dan Rather when he said "the documents may be false but the essence of the story is true" (I'm paraphrasing). The Thursday coma story which got this rolling is false. What we have is a Friday/Saturday window where its possible that Reeve left the message on Kerry's cell phone. You need more than hunches or speculation to make the case that Kerry lied about this fairly unimportant point or its going to be harder to prove his bigger lies that we have more evidence for.

I think it's BS too...but unless someone close to Reeves calls poo poo on it (which is unlikely because I'm sure they are all Kerry supporters) this story will stand.

I think many in this country will consider Kerry's political use of Reeves at the time of his death to be a very low class thing to do and, combined with Edwards statements this week, I doubt his campaign will be helped much by any of this.

Assuming that the Thursday story was a mistake by the NBC affiliate station that posted it to the net, my assumption regarding his condition in regards to Friday night and sometime on Saturday still stands. Don't take my word for it though because we have this from:

BEDFORD, N.Y., Oct. 11 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Christopher Reeve died suddenly at 5:30 p.m. yesterday of heart failure. He was 52 years old.

On Saturday October 9, Reeve fell into a coma after going into cardiac arrest while at home. Reeve was being treated for a pressure wound that he developed, a common complication for people living with paralysis. In the past week, the wound had become severely infected, resulting in a serious systemic infection. Reeve was admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital on Saturday evening and never regained consciousness. His family was at his side at the time of death.

Dana Reeve, Christopher's wife, issued this statement: "On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank Northern Westchester Hospital for the excellent care they provided to my husband. I also want to thank his personal staff of nurses and aides, as well as the millions of fans from around the world who have supported and loved my husband over the years."

"The family asks that you respect their privacy at this very difficult time, "said Wesley Combs, publicist for Mr. Reeve.

Reeve is survived by his mother Barbara Johnson and his father Franklin Reeve, his brother Benjamin Reeve, his wife Dana, their twelve year old son Will and his two children from a former relationship, Matthew (25) and Alexandra (21).

At this time, no plans for a funeral have been announced. Additional information will be released as soon as it is available. Please visit http://www.christopherreeve.org for the most up-to-date information.

For those who care to do so, the family has requested that donations be made in his honor to the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation -- http://www.ChristopherReeve.org. Cards may be sent to the family in care of the Foundation at 500 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081.

"Where is the correction by WHO? - I'm not doubting you, I just haven't seen it"

As far as I know, there hasn't been any official correction, the line about Thursday has just *disappeared* from the stories on this.

I know what I heard on the radio when the news first broke on a CNN affiliate station, and they said he went into a coma on Thursday.

Now, it may be that there's nothing there--perhaps the issue was so important to Reeve that on his deathbed he watched the debate and gathered the strength to call Kerry.

Hoever, based on the seriousness of Reeve's condition and on what we know about Kerry's opportunistic personality and tendency to lie, I think it's more reasonable to assume that Kerry made up the story.

Well, that's my real problem with this. This is an emerging problem with cataloguing information. When there is no (or fragile) audit trail of where the news or information comes from, it makes facts much more hard to establish. The liberals are all for this, especially since (in large part) they control many of the information/media sources. Now, we are here to combat the lies.

I highly suggest that you think about a screen capture program. I also save the files, but that is subject to accussation of corruption. And, while the graphics are subject to the same accussation the file (image) will stand up to scrutiny. In addition, and the reason why I posted the .avi file, you can use the screen cpature to record a "video" of the screen, in this case showing the 2 different versions right next to each other. Which gets to how insidious this issue really is (in a larger context).

WHOTV used the same article (URL). I pulled up the one article, wen to a meeting, came back, checked the thread and Congressman BilllyBob alerted me that the story had changed. Luckily, I had pulled up the initial story in another tab (thank you, Firefox!) and had a tab with the revised story. Now, that normally isn't going to happen. The use of the same URL makes it seem as if there was only/always just 1 version. News web pages should always use version controls when they are revising any story.

This is a real problem and it continues to grow.

Maybe so but there is currently not a single source for a Thursday coma that turns up in Google News, but there are hundreds for a Saturday coma. Look at the links at #155. The Thursday coma story is clearly a mistake.

Thank you!

You might want to put little John's picture on the back of Superman after his comments basically saying GW was the reason CR was in the wheel chair and died.
