Figures.
The most stupid ones make the most noise, starting with the vicious, nasty Janeane Garofalo, closely followed by the rabid Al Franken and John Kerry.

Does anyone actually score 1600s?

I took the ACT...so I'm sort of unfamiliar with the SAT.

Took the LSAT though....way way way back...lol

Admissions tests much like IQ tests are not completely reliable....good to test capability but not actual "smarts".

I do very well on them but look at me here....see what I mean...lol

Oh yes, absolutely. In fact, over the last ten years it's been much easier to accomplish.

They're changing the whole test this coming year, though. I think the new highest possible score will be 2400 or something around that.

Yeah, people score 1600 all the time. I don't think they're determinative but they are indicative. And this set of scores indicates that the further left you go on the political spectrum the further left you go on the Bell Curve. :-}

I don't buy any of this. SAT scores are not public record, anyone can claim to have received any score they wish to claim, and anyone can Photoshop an SAT scoring report to make it appear to have whatever number they want.

Unless I'm looking through the actual reports at a college admissions office, I'm not going to automatically believe what anyone says their scores were.

By asking the people involved. The website makes clear that the scores are "unverified" but most of them are from the mouths of the people listed. I happen to think they are probably accurate. Allen and Gates are liberals, their scores are exceptionally high. I believe it.

Nobody is claiming that these scores are from the files of the College Board but I happen to think they sound just about right.

Oh Lordy, have you got that right.
I have no idea what my SAT score is; in any case it was a very long time ago. But I still get a lot of mileage out of this game:

Whenever a legend-in-his-own-mind starts in on me I do two things: announce that my SAT score was only 378. And challenge him to go on line and pick a random IQ test that we can both take and compare results.

It's a lose-lose proposition for the dweeb.

I think when I took the ACT in 74 that the max score was 34 or 35.

I know the LSAT has changed their scoring ...when I took it in 80, anything north of 700 was great.

A plausible enough explanation, except for one thing:

Why would anyone admit to an SAT score under 900?

LOL about Gore and his weed.

I do have one concern about these reported scores- When I took the SAT in 88, scores were reported in increments of 10 points. That means that some of the scores on the list can't be right. Does anyone here know if they changed the scoring over the years?

During the 70s at Rice, it wasn't uncommon to have small junior to grad level course sizes of 3-15 students per course with at least one 1600 SAT score recipient in class with you. Few scored below 1300 and they still scored on a strict bell curve. For a course of 15 students, 5 received 1s or 2s (As or Bs), 5 received 3s, (Cs) and the other 5 received 4s and 5s (Ds and Fs). Typically students would only get 4.5 to 5 hrs sleep per night, one all-nighter per week, and would measure their devotion by the number of minutes or fractional hours per week not spent on study.

Yes, there are lots of guys who score 1600 on the SAT. Many of them didn't get straight A's in high school, but typically had varied interests.

The site also links to a Time magazine article which got the scores directly from the people.

Not to laugh at a dead guy, but Paul Wellstone scored under 800!!! No wonder he stayed a liberal.

I figure these numbers are just made up. PBS’s FRONTLINE has a two-part series on Clinton’s life in which they state that he was a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist. That would be a matter of public record, and that would put him in the top 1-2% of those who took the test, Merit Scholars being based on SAT scores. So this posting has no credibility whatsover. Just in case anyone at this website has any interest whatsoever in the truth. Which I doubt.

Do you seek, search for and encourage truth? I do.
