FreeRepublic vs. DU ranking stats
self

Posted on 10/17/2004 4:07:46 PM PDT by whoozit

I thought it was interesting to do a little statistical analysis of FreeRepublic.com stats vs. that "other" site.

These first statistics from Alexa.com (tracking service owned by Amazon) show daily ranking over the period of one year. Yahoo is ranked #1. Increase in ranking is an exponential increase. In other words, site #10,000 gets more than double the traffic of site #20,000. In this case, the lower the ranking number, the better.

Here is the actual reach of the site, showing how many people per million population on the web visit the site each day.

Here you can see the exponential difference in the sites. FR is averaging approximately 600 visits per million web users/day. DU is averaging approximately 125 visits per million users/day. Free Republic has FIVE TIMES as much traffic as DU.

FYI

I did a little snooping at their hate-fest over there today, and they are bemoaning the latest polls.. asking, "Who ARE these people voting for Bush?", not realizing that their numbers are nowhere near our numbers. They do not realize that THEY are the minority, and that THEIR views are out of the mainstream.

GO W!

The firewall on my system at work, rarely blocks Free Republic. I can never log on DU. It is always blocked due to language and content.

Looks like a lot of us went over there in September to chuckle after the Convention bounce.

I know I did. :o)

I wonder what caused the spike in May. I also notice a nosedive in Aug. at the DU.

So?

If you are smart enough to get on line, chances are 5:1 you are a conservative?

And I wonder how many FR visits are from DUmmies? We probably give them more traffic than they give us. The difference is that everytime WE visit DU, we suppor them. They do advertising banners and pop ups, so they make money off of every freeper who visits.

Jim R on the other hand has NO advertising on the site. It is all user supported. So DUmmies who come here do nothing more than use up bandwidth. Perhaps someone can install a filter or script that would scan cookies for party affiliation and send ads only to DUmmies? hehe...

Their alleged intellectual superiority" over us mere mortals blinds them to the simple fact that the majority of the Americans don't buy into their Liberal/Socialistic BS!

I would say that half the DU traffic is Freepers going over there to "see what the other side is saying."

They're their own worst advertisement. Bad language, bad tempers and worst of all, bad logic. I've visited once and thought the contrast to FR was more than striking, it was shocking. Made me proud not to be a part of it.

Here are some more interesting statistics.

MarketLeap.com has a Link Popularity Check tool which scans the major search engines to determine how many times a site is linked to within that engine.

You can find the tool here

Enter www.freerepublic.com in the top space and DU with its full url in another. Leave INDUSTRY on General and enter the random code. Click for results.

www.freerepublic.com 3,172,427
www.democraticunderground.com 546,432

Regarding Search Engine Saturation, the report yields these results...

In other words? No contest.
